I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 46,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Warehouse #1 Réunion side-by-side: On the nose the younger one is harsher while the sherry finish is more present (i.e. integration is worse compared to the older release). The older release comes with a nice combination of earthy notes and dried fruits. Both profit very much from some additional time to breath. Similar picture on the palate. The older release is smoother with better alcohol integration. On both releases the finish is very present and a bit too intense for my personal taste.
I either had a bad day, or this One was not for me. Completely unimpressed, despite the high ABV I got not many notes besides what I am used in aged Agricoles, and even those were faint. I suppose, some water and another 30mins of air might have helped, but such is the curse of small samples: you cannot have it all.
