How does this rum taste?
Most love its powerful dry Caroni profile, deep fruit, wood and tar balance. A few find it less complex or too dry. Consensus: a world‑class, reference‑level Caroni release.
If you already enjoy big, dirty Caronis and like them dry and oaky, this is a benchmark bottle that turns the tar, rubber and dried fruit dial to the max with serious depth.
Beginners, those sensitive to high ABV, or drinkers who prefer sweet, easygoing rums without diesel, tar or heavy wood influence.

A beautiful Caroni!!! Rather to enjoy. Lots of dried fruit, wood and spices. Liquid licorice. Tar and rubber are only faintly perceptible overall. Very round, warm and balanced. I was lucky to be able to buy a half-full bottle in a restaurant.
The Epic Velier Caroni Tasting: Complex with pointed sweetness and heavy fruit notes, which are contrasted by the barrel influences, tart spiciness and subtle Caroni dirt notes. One of the releases from the presumed "Paxarette era", which scores with sophistication and complexity despite 24 years of tropical storage.
Great roasted note! Sherry associations due to the addition of Paxarete. Dry finish.
Update: Second draw still very good. A little oxidation hasn't hurt and I'd add another point now. Great rum. I was looking forward to this tasting. I think this is my oldest Caroni Vintage so far. Great wood maturity with a bit of menthol and glue around the tar and gum notes with lots of raisin and dried fruit as well as tobacco. Absolutely dry on the palate (yay) but still with the great raisins and some petrol. I like it very much
