How does this rum taste?
The Dominican Republic 474 Esters is an unaged, high-proof rum bottled by Romdeluxe. Distilled from molasses using a column still, it boasts an extraordinarily high ABV of 93%. Users describe potent aromas of glue, solvents, and alcohol, with undertones of citrus. On tasting, the profile reveals intense glue-like and synthetic flavors, accompanied by alcoholic and solvent notes, with hints of lemon. Although some find its extreme potency surprisingly drinkable, most agree that its overwhelming characteristics make it better suited as a mixer or industrial cleaner than as a sipping rum. This unique expression generates strong reactions for its unprecedented intensity and unconventional profile, marking it as a niche choice for adventurous rum enthusiasts.

474 g/HLAA is more than Wedderburn at 93% and that from the Dominican Republic. A rum like you could never try before. The nose reminds undiluted neither Jamaica nor Grande Arome, but 100% glue with solvents (the good stuff), ethanol behind. You can use it to stain wood in a pinch. Maybe a thin lemon can be guessed. Water changes almost nothing.Undiluted in the mouth the same game: adhesive, solvent, plastic. That the 93% in the mouth go at all borders on a miracle. With water, the profile remains similar, some artificial fruit comes to it (green apple) and indeterminate sweetness as of refined sugar. From the pure tasting you have nothing but a headache.Even in the mojito, the glue pushes the mint against the wall. Undrinkable 🤷♂️
You really don't expect this to be drinkable. Surprisingly mild and fruity! In particular, I wouldn't have expected to find any big flavors at all at 93% and Dom rep rum, but you can actually recognize some apple, mint and citrus here. Chapeau 😂 but nobody needs it and I think €80 is exorbitantly overpriced for a white rum at distillation strength....
Boy, boy, who came up with the idea of calling this stuff rum? No idea, fortunately it doesn't just taste of alcohol and glue. Citrus fruits are also recognizable. And just because the 93% is better integrated than, for example, in Stroh 80 or other high-proof trace spirits, it gets a relatively good rating of with.
Absolutely inedible! Since I can also press a tube of Uhu in the glass and dilute
