Elliott Erwitt (Magnum) is a premium rum from Martinique's Saint James distillery, curated by Velier. Distilled in 2006 from sugar cane juice using a Creole Column, it ages for 15 years, offering a 45% ABV. A pretty good Saint James. The typical notes are there and I really like the light coffee note in the profile. ABV is pretty well integrated but could have been better. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass reveals even more notes like nutts and light ginger.
Very tasty Saint James that does not need more ABV. Powerful on the nose with cherry and honey. Caramel, licorice and wood on the palate. A bit of bitterness (very pleasant) in the finish.
Excellent Saint James. Already discovered at the Whisky Live Paris.
Great rum, which the drinking strength is very good to face. Very round and just as strong as varied in taste. Beats even in direct comparison with St. James bottlings with higher alcohol content excellent.
