Nose is very nice and intense. Lots of fruits and funk to begin with. After some time to breath, spices and some smokiness shows up. Very enjoyable yet demanding given the high ester level. High intensity on the palate as well: lots of fruits and ester notes. A bit of sweetness to balance the overall profile. Still quite lively while the cask took off the harshest edges.
Inspired nose with the expected fruit esters and heavy sweet notes of caramel, vanilla and pastry. The palate continues to be close to the expected DOK profile, the whole passes into tart fruit acidity, which in my eyes, however, lacks a clear counterpart in the form of heavy flavors - be it pointed sweetness or wood influences.
Beautiful, palatable DOK. Lots of tropical fruit, some honey and marzipan, bitter almonds and a little mirabelle vinegar, as well as lime zest. Personally, the wood influence here is definitely too much for me, the younger bottlings are more fun in my opinion. It's definitely fun, but the finish is also a little astringent and tart and not quite as complex and intensely long-lasting as other DOKs and almost too round. I also find 130€ for 0.5l 100% continental matured DOK a bit much compared to other similar bottlings from the same vintage. However, if you haven't yet been able to buy or tried one, this is definitely the best advice!
Pineapple and mango on neat ester with a portion of glue. On the palate, especially candied pineapple and a mix of other tropical fruits lingers on the tongue. The finish funky and creamy leaves nice fruit notes and contains no trace of alcohol felt. Even though the finish is very long the rum doesn't quite kill the palate (like some other DOK). Although it is a "relatively long" aged DOK I don't really see a trace of wood. Against so many fruity esters tannins and Co. have just no chance.
