How does this rum taste?
Most praise it as a powerful, fruity DOK with esters, banana and glue, surprisingly drinkable at 63%. Critics find it harsh or tiring neat. Consensus: a top-tier funky white and mixer turbo.
If you already enjoy Hampden whites or other DOKs, this gives you classic glue-and-banana funk with good balance and price; if that profile scared you before, approach very cautiously.
Beginners, those sensitive to 63% ABV, or drinkers who dislike aggressive esters, nail-polish/glue aromas and raw, unaged Jamaican funk.

The best unaged DOK I have ever tasted. And yes, I have a lot of it :) ... Hampden, legendarni jamajska destilerka, ktera krome rumu produkuje take alkohol do parfemu. Ve vsech rumech z teto destilerky ucitite divoke estery, po kterych cely vas organizmus nasakne vuni zluteho tropickeho ovoce - manga, papaji, anansu, broskvi. Jeden z rumu, ktere "must try before die".
Lots of eagle owl and alcohol on the nose. Exactly what I expect from a strong DOK. In the mouth everything comes together briefly, slightly sour, sweet and sticky aromas. Relatively long finish for an unaged rum, which feels increasingly sweet towards the end. With some ageing, a great rum is sure to emerge here, the base product here is certainly top-notch. A little plus point: the great back label. I just love a bit of documentation.
Flavor comes through here in contrast to the fine drams DOK more ginger banana and spices with. Overall, the fine drams is also much more complex and round, this is me a little too salty, smoky and spicy. But still a class DOK.But also in the daiquiri dominate the almost reminiscent of bacon notes, fun but the fine drams has also here clearly the nose in front!
#4043 This was the final one and I had to admit that after this one I i dug into the Romdeluxe Trelawny White DOK. This one is also intense and fruity with nice esters and some polish in there. I'd say workshop, but we're not fully there 😊 Spicy and oily palate with a very long finish. I'd like to think that this one could spice up and already good mixer by a few steps. Price to quality is very good in my mind.
