CDI T.D.L Trinidad (Bottled for Caksus) 2003

WoW another minty TDL from CDI. I really love this symbiosis between mint/anise and wood/nuts/roasted almonds. Very unique rum. The alcohol is integrated very well. Long minty finish 🤤The value for money ratio is very good too. For me this one is behind the ‘19 version. I found the 19 is more rounder and a bit woodier, which synergy smoother and better. PN: You won’t like it, if you hate minty/anise notes. For me: 16yr>18yr of aging

Zuerst war ich etwas enttäuscht, aber ich mag ihn lieber mit jedem Schluck. Ich habe außergewöhnliches erwartet und einen meiner liebsten Easy-drinking-Rums gefunden. In der Nase: Minze, Falernum (Nelken, Ingwer, Zitrusschalen), gelbe Früchte eines Cognacs (Trauben und Pfirsich) und warmes Holz. Im Mund ist er intensiver, nach der Minze ist das ausgekohlte Fass präsenter als in der Nase, ansonsten ist das Profil ähnlich mit weniger Nelke. Im Abgang geht das Minzfeuerwerk dann richtig los: Minze, Menthol, mehr Minze und mehr Menthol - leider auch etwas scharfkantig. Habe ihn zusammen mit dem 1802 exklusive probiert. Die Unterschiede sind marginal, der 1802er ist etwas geschmeidiger, hellere Früchte und weniger röstig - m.E. insgesamt auf einem Niveau, mit einem leichten Plus für den 1802er Edit. Nach dem RdL und FRC 2002 verkostet. Weniger minzig als der RdL, viel intensiver als der FRC. Ein etwas anderes Profil. Bleibe bei der Bewertung.

First RumX meeting. Un nez mentholé mais avec des fruits (tropicaux, jaunes et rouges) et des fleurs. Un beau bois en soutient. De la douceur en bouche avec un côté pêches en boîte. Les arômes montent, puis redescendent assez vite pour une finale plutôt courte. La menthe reste pourtant longtemps.

Nez plutôt gourmand : du fruit, du sucre caramélisé, un côté piquant et mentholé. C'est engageant. La bouche est très différente : forte et sèche, sur des notes très "terrestres" : cuir, tabac notamment. Une sensation mentholée enrobante. Un chêne présent également. Une fin de bouche très agréable, légèrement amère, un poil plus gourmande. C'est un très bon rhum. J'aime beaucoup. Édit : vraiment très bon !! J'aurais dû doubler la bouteille ! Elle en valait la peine. J'ai gardé un petit sample de 3cl Edit : toujours aussi bon. Il a gardé toute sa vivacité malgré l'oxydation. Le bois me semble désormais plus marqué. Le menthol est omniprésent. Superbe rhum.

Very nice TDL with nice citrus & lychee tones! I definitely like it better than the 1802 which is a few months older. This one is really extremely harmonious, not too much wood, not too much mint, very complex and drinkable, could just have a bit more power...

Ever tasted a rum where the taste changes like the color in a chameleon? This rum is a chameleon! Initially deliciously sweet and overripe peach on the nose and palate (imagine a juicy yellow-reddish fruit), the chameleon later changes color to rich, tart mint green. What a play of colors! I like this rum exceptionally well. But whether it can also hand the color pot 😉 to the now almost legendary CDI T.D.L 2003 16 yo (RX944) remains to be seen in a direct comparison.

Recht typisches TDL-Profil der frühen 2000er Jahre. Satte Mentholnote, kräftige Holz- und Gewürznoten - wem dieses Profil zusagt, der wird hier fündig. Es gibt aber spannendere Abfüllungen aus diesen Jahren, die mehr aromatische Komplexität mitbringen.

C’est validé, j’adore les TDL des années 2000. Gros coup de cœur. En resume, mes notes de degutation : Au nez : Mentholé, Fruité, Fruits tropicaux, Pêches, Clou de girofle, Sucre brûlé, Eucalyptus, Pommes au four En bouche : Intense, Mentholé, Fort, Citron vert, Maracuja, Fruits jaunes, Pêches, Fruits rouges La finale plutot orientee vers : Mentholé, Pimenté, Eau-de-vie de fruits, Herbe, Fruits rouges

Super tdl. C'est très mentholé mais il y a aussi des agrumes qui sont la en force et rendent le tout très agréable. Belle découverte.

Un TDL qui cache bien son jeu. Le nez débute sur la fraîcheur de l’eucalyptus et du menthol, puis se dirige vers des notes fruitées sur les baies, le cassis, la pêche et les agrumes. Le profil est assez épicé, mais dévoile également des notes de caramel et de sucre brûlé. Ce n’est pas le profil le plus intense, mais il est particulièrement doux et arrangeant. Véritable virage à 180 degrés en bouche, ici les fruits sont moins présents au profit de notes plus empyreumatiques et pétrolifères, agrémentées par une légère amertume, du menthol, du tabac, des épices (réglisse, anis, piment, poivre, vanille). Le profil est huileux, bien plus sale et rugueux que ce que le nez ne suggérait. L’alcool demeure bien intégré malgré tout. La finale est longue, intense et bien asséchante (voir tannique). L’amertume ressort du lot avec le cuir, un côté pétrolifère, métallique et légèrement épicé. Le menthol est aussi très présent, masquant beaucoup le fruité autrefois perceptible. Un TDL trompeur, un peu électrique sur la fin et qui n’a pas finit de surprendre.

Wieder ein tPischer 2003 T.D.L mit einer schweren dominanten Minznote. Dazu aber auch fruchtig und vollmundig am Gaumen. Der Abgang ist sehr lang und natürlich von Minze und Menthol geprägt! Etwas weniger Minze, dafür mehr Frucht und Gewürz wären mir lieber.

#5112 15.02.2025 Running a few samples at home. Nose Fresh, medium intense, light wood, fruity, mint, faint polish, light mango, faint pear. Palate Round, balanced, light wood, oily, fruity, light orange, mint, light herbal, faint tannins, light earthy. Finish Long and warm, round, balanced, wood, light roasted, fruits, light pear, light orange, spice, mint. Empty glass Mint, light chocolate, light orange, light herbal, faint polish.

Lieblich-intensiv in der Nase: viel konzentriertes Pfirsich-Aroma mit einer leichten Note frischer Minze. Dazu die Süße von Passionsfrucht, gebranntem Zucker und Fruchtsirup. Eine gewisse Würze und leicht Vanille sind hinten mit dabei. Wow, intensive Minze am Gaumen. Da ist erst mal nix anderes, als frische Minze. Wenn die abklingt kommen etwas Süßholz oder Anis und etwas leicht grasiges hinzu. Da ist dann auch noch ein Hauch Limette am Ende. Wenn man Minze mag, ist der hier echt schön. Sehr ausgewogen und rund und sehr gut eingebundener Alkohol.
