This seems like an unusual Caroni but I really like it. I don’t get the classic leather on the nose but rather a warm plum/prune with a pine accent. Phenomenally good. On the palate the integration is so tight that I had to add a few drops of water. There is less plum and more tropical and pitted fruit at this stage and very distinct dry tar notes with a clayish accent. Tar and clay might not sound like great flavors but trust me when I say it is here. The complexity is incredible and the flavor stays and develops in waves on the tongue for a long time. Arguably the best rum I’ve tried so far.
