To Caroni
"A fairly well-behaved Caroni with a warm nose of machine shop and stewed fruit. The palate is deep and warm. The finish is long. A very fine rum, but suffers a little from direct comparison with the Velier single cask (RX1150)."
"A very well selected 1998 Caroni, the nose shows a fine balance between sweet, fruity aromas on the one hand (caramel, burnt sugar, tropical fruit and citrus) and more woody (toasted oak), spicy (chili, licorice, pepper) and empyreumatic aromas on the other (smoky notes, hydrocarbons, menthol and tire). The whole is round and very pleasant on the nose. The attack on the palate is lively and progressive. The smoky, roasted notes go hand in hand with oak, leather, tar and rubber, but the sweetness of exotic fruit and caramel give it plenty of suavity. Among the spices, the touch of salt gives a significant plus to the palate, with good depth and a good dose of gourmandise. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is long, always contrasted between the distillery's typical dirty flavors and the sweet, fruity sweetness. Butterscotch and salt accentuate the sweetness of the bottling. A very drinkable and interesting profile, Lime House's selection for this cuvee is top-notch."

"Solid Caroni with a more typical heavy profile, well integrated alcohol and nice long finish. Nice complementary brown sugar, vanilla & fruity notes. Great pick from Jarek."
