Precious Liquors Caroni Tortuga No. 2 (East Asia Whisky) 1998
Highly praised, balanced Caroni with well‑integrated 59.9% ABV, mixing classic tar and rubber with vanilla, nuts, tropical fruit and tobacco. Seen as a standout, more approachable 1998 release.
Seasoned rum fans who enjoy heavy Trinidad profiles and want a more rounded, fruity, bourbon‑leaning Caroni at full proof without added sugar.

How does this rum taste?
Balanced, approachable heavy Caroni
If you like classic Caroni but want something more rounded and drinkable at cask strength, this picks up the tar and rubber while adding vanilla, nuts and soft fruit.
Beginners, those sensitive to high ABV, or purists seeking the dirtiest, most extreme Caroni funk and rubber notes.

very good Caroni. balanced enough. so similar to Corman Collins series: 1988 21yr, Drink it Zipped it and the Black Cat Bar. same profile. just less some red fruits, berries or some hints of cocoa/chocolates. but more concerned and stronger, this one integrates some unimpressive elements. So I prefer this one to Corman Collins series. light and implicit, typical Caroni and easy to drink. great!
Very round and balanced, stands out positively in the large number of 1998 releases. The typical HTR Caroni notes are recognizable, but embedded in an appealing bouquet of sweet tropical fruits, vanilla wood notes and fresh tobacco hints. Very balanced and therefore exciting to drink - a wide spectrum of heavy to fresh flavors is on offer here. Beautiful selection.
Quite an atypical nose for a Caroni. Lots of vanilla, bourbon and nuts are added to the (rather more subtle) Caroni notes. Very accessible on the palate. A little lacking in depth for a top rating. Very well integrated alcohol.
