How does this rum taste?
- Rare bottle, only 350 available
- Fruity and peppery flavor profile
- Smooth, balanced palate
Compagnie des Indes' Trinidad 1993 is a rare rum with only 350 bottles available. Distilled at the Caroni distillery and aged for 22 years, it features fruity and cookie dough aromas with notes of pineapple and a hint of soap. The palate offers peppery and chocolate flavors, complemented by anise and apple. While some enthusiasts praise its balance and fruity characteristics, others find it lacks the distinctive strong Caroni profile, deeming it more akin to Angostura. Despite mixed reviews, it appeals to those seeking a milder Caroni experience. At 48% ABV, it offers a refined yet accessible tasting journey for both collectors and casual rum aficionados.

"Hardly typical Caroni flavors present. Tastes more like an Angostura. Disappointing bottling from Compagnie des Indes."
"Unfortunately for me an absolute flop. Tastes more like an Angostura rum with 1% caroni times obliquely viewed. Unfortunately very weak and quickly gone. Since the felicite with only 40% can even more...."
"This is a very rare bottle and there is a reason why. This rum is a typical Caroni from the nose to the finish. The nose is velvety with tropical fruits and camphor, some barrel with the typical polish and tar as well. The palate is well balanced with plum and cherries in the foreground and smoky barrel and ester to it. The finish is long and persistent with plum and spices. Price to quality is very good."
"not really convincing. There are really clearly better Caroni's"
