A rum that only three aficionados have rated here so far and where opinions seem to differ. I'm pretty high up in my rating and therefore almost with Sebastian Kornett. The rum impresses with its full-bodied character and typical Clarendon notes and looks as if it has been aged for a very long time and is still from the 20th century. Winner of the evening. And the competition was strong (including Velier Royal Navy Rum and Perola REV 1994).
Unreif und ungezähmt. Alkohol nicht gut eingebunden. Nicht meins
I find the Blackadder bottlings particularly appealing because of their visual roughness. This Clarendon also has promising key data. This rum is very full-bodied, dry and astringent and impresses with a very strong menthol/mint note on the palate. If you like that, you will find an excellent rum to suit your profile. For me, there is a little too much of these aromas. The long finish, however, brings out a lot for me. In addition to the menthol and mint mentioned above, the wood and espresso come through clearly. Make sure you leave it to rest for at least half an hour!
Now i understand Clarendon i have had a few bottles and in my opinion this bottle is just flawed. Menthol, varnish, numbing finish is really harsh and unpleasant. Very sad to own a full bottle. problems are vegetal, menthol, nailvarnish etc. with no balancing sweetness 3.9 review upon opening: fresh out of the bottle not delicious at all. AND i love ajamaica funk. Better to go for a Hampden or Worthy Park. Have decanted half bottle in hopes of the rum evolving and calming down. Tastes off / bad to me and everyone I have shared it with. Most people love my high ester hampden and worthy parks. But not this. It’s honestly just bad in my oppinion. Will stick to velier in future.
