Overall a very interesting rum from Foursquare which is partly reminiscent of white Jamaica rum and Rivers Antoine. My good friend Björn “Romsoffan” offered me a glass of this somehow different Foursquare at Foursquare Appreciation Day, released by Habitation Velier. It’s what Richard Seale call, a Long Fermentation Type (LFT). It’s a Pot Still from both molasses and cane juice with Esters 555 gr/hlpa, which is the same level as HLCF from Jamaica.
I don't know what it is about the rum that is supposed to be high ester, but overall I really like it. Nicely balanced white rum that is fruity at first, then slightly astringent.
This is a retasting and I stick to my initial score 😊 ----- Velier really knows how to pick them. A well balanced white with fruit and light spices and a lovely floral note. Well rounded and dry on the palate and there is a very light minty note in the profile. The empty glass is really nice.
Very interesting white rum. Could also be a very good round Worthy Park. I hardly notice the high esters. The long fermentation makes me think more of Clairin. A mild, round, drinkable white rum for the %. I just don't see any possible use for this rum. Too expensive and unspectacular to drink straight. It lacks something special for mixing (and is far too expensive).
