Relatively dry savanna. Chocolatey-vanilla on the palate with cherries.
Together with DomM we tasted a few Savanna today. Many thanks to Johannes for the samples. The biggest disappointments were the RX232 and the RX11264. My personal favorite was the RX9608. The RX11034 and the RX11515 just made it over the 8 points.
I definitely expected more here, rather disappointing. It's delicious, drinks absolutely well, but the cognac and port cask have simply gained the upper hand and the pineapple, violet, strawberry and generally fruity notes have almost no chance of coming through... Good thing I only took a sample! Unfortunately the weakest chai humide overall... The relatively low alcohol content is also a disappointing factor here. Not a bad rum but absolutely no chance compared to Chai humide 8y and 10y or the Savanna Madras!
A balanced and fine thing. It reminds me starkly of a Trident chewing gum from my youth. Various fruits with partly leathery, slightly smoky, woody notes. Unfortunately, there is a lot of alcohol in the forefront of the nose over time.
