Distilled in 2007 from pot still molasses and aged for 13 years, this high-proof rum (65.8% ABV) is known for its intense ester profile. Its nose delivers strong notes of tropical and dried fruits with hints of overripe characters, while the palate offers powerful esters, tropical fruits, and a notable alcoholic presence featuring pineapple. Absolutely lovely rum. This is a high ester fruit bomb that explodes on the nose and palate but which is very smooth and nice to sip on. Sometimes these rums are more interesting than they are ‘drinkable’ but this one manages to do both very well.
Best so far what I had
On The Rocks: On the nose it has very strong alcohol with dried fruit and floral notes with mild hints of spice. Taste reveals a strong a alcoholic presence with immediate strong spice notes followed closely with prominent floral and fruit flavours with a medium sweetness. There is some underlying woody notes with leather to round off this very delicious and complex rum. Finish is medium length with fading off leather and spice notes. This is an exceptional rum that is among the best we have ever tasted. Beautiful sipper. I highly suggest smaller quantity as a sipper, I had a couple Oz with a few large ice cubes and it was difficult to finish… it is complex and strong making it not the most ideal evening glass to sip. Mixed Pepsi Zero: On the nose mild leather with mild fruit and floral notes. Still getting some light underlying spice notes as well on the nose. Taste has a confusing mix of strong floral and fruit notes with spices. You lose the alcoholic hit leaving the rum feeling off balance. Finish is short with dried fruit. I suggest only drinking this release on the rocks because mixing it throws the profile off-balance. It shines through the Pepsi Zero like few other rums.
On the rocks: This is one impressive rum so much going on all at once. Definitely can taste the high alcohol content but its not overwhelming. Its a delightful culmination of flavors with a medium complex finish. Mixed Pepsi Zero. Nosing: Still have that great sweet smell, leathery, fruit and floral. Subdued alcohol smell. Taste: Retains its strong taste, losses it’s alcoholic hit and medium finish going to a shorter finish.
