How does this rum taste?
Most drinkers rave about its huge complexity, integrated alcohol and mix of fruits, wood and tobacco. A few find it a bit dry, woody or “jamaican‑like”. Consensus: a world‑class Bally.
If you already enjoy Bally 1999 or other old cask‑strength agricoles, this pushes similar deep wood, tobacco and fruit notes with slightly fresher finesse—perfect when you want Bally at full power.
Beginners, those sensitive to high ABV, or drinkers preferring soft, sweet, low‑oak rums; the dry, woody intensity and 59.1% can feel overwhelming.

One of the best rums from Martinique!
The nose initially reveals one of the most intense notes of varnish and polish that I have ever experienced in a rum. This is gradually followed by fresh fruit notes with cocoa and nutmeg, paired with wood and roasted notes. Slightly milder and more balanced than the 99 Brut de Fut.
Intense and rich on the nose with some glue adding to the JB profile. Dried fruits as well as cherries alongside vanilla and cinnamon. On the palate: brilliant showing of the JB profile. The high ABV is perfectly integrated and provides additional depth and a very long finish.
Another lovely rum, fresh and woody with spices and dried fruit. There is a light floral note in the background. Medium dry with chocolate, tobacco and coffee. Would have loved one of these in my collection.
