How does this rum taste?
The S.B.S Jamaica 2014 Bourbon and Brandy Matured Rum is a distinctive Jamaican spirit crafted from molasses in a pot still and aged for 8 years in bourbon and brandy casks. Bottled at cask strength with an ABV of 46%, this limited release from 1423 World Class Spirits offers a harmonious blend of woody notes and exotic spices like cumin and cinnamon. Tasting reveals woody, dry, and fruity flavors, including hints of pineapple and chocolate. While some users appreciate its smoothness and unique profile, others find it lacking traditional Jamaican rum characteristics and balance, with the cask influence being overly dominant.

I found this rum very unspectacular, unbalanced rum. It has some nice notes of wood and dried fruits. On the palate you can easily notice the brandy barrel. The alcohol isn’t integrated well. The finish is quite short and overwhelmed by barrel notes.
Imbalanced. Unfortunately no real Jamaica taste - the cask dominates
Much wood in the nose. Some flowers ,( Worthy Park!) in the nose too. More tropical fruits in taste. Interesting. Good cask management because this brings out the typical WP taste but the wood is well infused.
Finally some time to reflect on our tasting with romhatten.dk on Friday. Brought out the sample bottles to see if I could pick up some hidden notes 😊 Sad that they watered this one down because I think at CS it would have been a much better rum. There is a light floral note that I really like. A light yet well rounded profile and I think this could be an entry rum for beginners os Jamaica rums.
