Nobilis Uitvlugt (Port Mourant) No. 13 PM
Consensus points to a characterful, bittersweet Port Mourant with woody, herbal complexity and gritty tannins. One to try if you enjoy sturdy black tea notes and a dry, grown-up finish.
Woody, herbal, complex; classic Port Mourant profile throughout.

How does this rum taste?
- Sehr gutes und kräftiges Port Mourant Profil.
- bemerkenswert intensiv an der Nase und am Gaumen.
- Voller Körper, elegant, ausgewogen, äußerst lecker.
This Uitvlugt Port Mourant from Nobilis Rum, distilled in 1995, brings layered notes of anise, herbal tea, wood, and persistent bitterness—"bemerkenswert intensiv" at the nose and palate (RumTaTa). Many spot herbal and tobacco elements, with some describing it as "pelzig auf der Zunge mit leicht bitteren (leckeren) Holznoten" (Christoph) and a touch of glue or minerality. The aging has rounded some edges but the typical Port Mourant profile of black tea tannins, licorice, and a long, somewhat dry finish shines through. Complexity, balance, and a hint of fruit (peach, mango), all presented at approachable cask strength, make it a rewarding pour—though some wish for more vibrant fruit or finesse.

"Long finish. Mild in the mouth but still sharpness there. Complex and tasty but not top.Edit - RumX Advent 14.12.22:N: glue, wood, slightly smoky, nutty, fresh, some driedM: herbal, metallic, trop. Fruits, black teaAbgang bitter and dry but also fruity, woody, herbalI like the rum, although the finish completely dries out my palate.Believe also Port Mourant. 50-55% 20 years.I once had the 95 from Nobilis. "#4734 05.06.2024 A nice afternoon with Michael and a few good rums. Nose Wood, light tannins, mint, light olives, anise, petrol, faint plum, faint glue. Palate Warm, wood, tannins, light dried fruit, faint prunes, varnish, faint glue, edgy, medium dry, light olive, faint licorice. Finish Medium to long, warm, wood, tannins, light mint, raisin, varnish, light glue, medium dry, light tar. This rums has some "edges" but still manages to pull it off. Needs to rest for a good while to really open up those flavours."
"Second tasting: remarkably intense on the nose and palate. On the palate I also find a nice malty sweetness, rating 3This rum has a pronounced bitterness on the palate and in the aftertaste. Along with that comes black tea and dark chocolate (with at least 85% cacao). Not so easily accessible but still very good and powerful Port Mourant profile."
"Nose enticing (mango), palate relatively bitter, you could also say expressive. Update 06/10/2022: What I called "expressive" two months ago, I feel today only as a penetrating mortar taste, even after an hour. Unfortunately, I can no longer find out if it was due to the day, since the sample is empty. But actually, I also do not want to try the rum again. 🥴 So after the day before yesterday at Bellamy's REV 1994 27yo today again deduction of official 4 points 🤷♂️. But nothing is set in stone, not even in the rum world. Cheers! 🥃"
