How does this rum taste?
Most love the rich roasted chocolate, raisins and Madeira-wine sweetness with well-integrated alcohol; critics find it too woody, musty or lightly sulfuric. Consensus: a distinctive, characterful Madeira agricole.
If you like expressive Madeira agricoles like Liberation or other wine-influenced cask-strength rums, this rewards you with similar roasted chocolate and dried-fruit depth, plus a distinctly Madeira twist.
Beginners, those sensitive to 50%+ ABV, or drinkers who dislike sulfur, musty earth and firm oak in their agricole rums.

'Sherry' galore, and sea - yes, I smell a bit of seafood here. Incredibly complex on the palate for 6 years. Heavy sweetness, berries, toasty. Caramel, light and red berries in the second half.
Very awesome balance of Madeira wine sweet, light acidity, barrel notes, sulfur, dark berries and the Rhum Agricole. Harmonious, elegant and delicious! Can easily keep up with partly twice as old rhum agricoles💣👌🏽
Very divisive, I hear. But purée, it's all there. A suave red fruit roundness. Controlled tannin, yes yes with sulphur, but that takes it to the next level. And we're there. All right, let's go for a 2nd bottle very quickly.
Thanks to Pedro Ferreira, who gave my in-laws some rum samples :-) The oldest rum of O Reizinho and I feel that the complexity decreases a bit, on the other hand the roundness increases significantly. A very round nose, characterized on the one hand by all sorts of chocolates with toasted aromas, and on the other by vegetal and citrus sugar cane. In the mouth chocolaty, mild, alcohol not noticeable at all, though an intense sherry note in finish that seems too dominant for me. Crass stuff, even if the three-year-old Burder is a bit more complex!
