“The 1999 Caroni vintage is quite convincing: caramel sweetness meets dirty tar and gum notes, wood, spices and dark chocolate and coffee. In addition, crisp roasted aromas - the Scotchman is just ahead for me, because the profile is still a bit rounder overall, but 1999 lands for me among the continental Caronis increasingly clear before releases from 1997 and 1998.”

“Very thick and heavy Caroni. All the tar. Diesel. Petrol. Burnt sugar. Unlike some of the same vintage not much fruit/berries. Needs some time and a drop of water. Very sticky. (I tasted it the next morning still). An acquired taste (even for Caroni). Very nice though. Also overpriced.”
