Long Pond Spécial Édition ITP-15
A rum highlighted for its inviting nose—ripe banana and tropical fruit are front and center—but the palate reveals a lighter, sometimes thinner profile. One to try if you’re drawn to fruit and subtle spice but unfazed by lower intensity.
Inviting nose, balanced fruit and spice, slightly thin palate.

How does this rum taste?
- schöne Nase: Trockenfrüchte, Banane, Vanille
- sehr harmonisch an Nase und Gaumen
- Cremig und rund mit Noten von Kokosnuss
Long Pond’s Spécial Édition ITP-15 leans heavily into banana, tropical fruit, and spice, with esters and wood notes threading through. On the nose, users repeatedly mention "überreife Banane" and a tropical freshness; on the palate, the experience is often described as mild, sometimes edging toward thin or bitter, balanced by chocolate or oaky backbone. "Tolle Nase, am Gaumen ists mir aber eine Spur zu bitter" (@Jakob) and "cremig und rund mit Noten von Kokosnuss, Banane und Pfirsich" (@Christoph) capture the push-pull here. While some appreciate its velvety balance, others find it lacking in punch for the price or the ABV.

"Second tasting: I reduce my rating by 4 points because the rum seems quite alcoholic despite the low alcohol content and because the gap in terms of aroma and intensity to the Velier bottlings is clear. The grilled overripe bananas jump out of the glass at me! There are also other tropical fruits and vanilla. Ripe banana and vanilla again in the mouth, very mild and oily. A peppery and salty note and barrel are added on the finish. Overall very harmonious and intense, top!"
"Great nose, but on the palate it's a touch too bitter for me. The dilution has no discernible negative effect on the fullness of the rum, but the fruit notes are somewhat lost behind the tart wood and spice notes."
"Creamy and round with notes of coconut, banana and peach. Some leather and slightly toasty to smoky on the nose and finish. There is a dry nutty note on the finish. Although the ester level is low (ITP) and the rum is thus expected mild, yet does not lack the power to satisfy the palate."
"I got this in the mail from Germany yesterday and I just couldn't wait until the weekend tasting it. Being on a week off from work and having a lot of time to arrange my rum collecrion I can always find a good excuse to sip one :-) I'd say this is a new super rum from Long Pond. Despite the age it has a solid oak as a backbone with fruits and spices on top. The funk is there and it's well balanced and velvety on the palate with a very light mineral touch with some caramel. It's not a cheap rum but I think the price is well matched with the quality. "
