Diplomático Single Vintage 2007

Pretty OK compared to the other previous releases. Still on the sweet side and good for beginners and dessert or an everyday rum. The nose is sweet with dried fruit, vanilla and a hint og oak. In the back i can fint a little coffee. The palate is sweet with fruit, vanilla and light chocolate. The oily palate also offers smoky oak with sherry notes. The finish is medium long with dried fruit and oak with a hint of chocolate. The nose the day after eminating from the glass is lovely.

The nose is inviting and one perceives fruit, chocolate, vanilla, wood, coffee and melon. The taste supports the nose and is supported by a slight alcoholic spiciness and sweetness. The finish is medium and underlines the overall impression. A very nice rum, not only for connoisseurs, but also for beginners. This rum is very accessible.

I expected a much sweeter rum, as I know the classic range from Diplomatico only. This i rum is quite OK as a dessert rum, but still on the sweeter side. Great for beginners, but with a miserable value per money ratio.

You can't complain here either. You can taste a light armchair and vanilla. A really good rum that can be recommended. It also tastes great mixed with cola, but is also delicious on its own.

This a perfect example of a tasty Spanish style rum. It's way better than the 2005 vintage. Avoid if you don't like sugared rum.

Nose: The gromichelle banana notes from the Diplomatico Reserva are more pronounced. Banana, raisins, almonds and toffee intensify after about a month of airing. Alcohol is barely detectable. Taste: On the tip of the tongue, the first flavors are raisins, sherry, and woody, with a rich sweetness that is stronger than the banana. Light savory flavors like almonds and walnuts are present until the moment of swallowing. The low alcohol content means that it lingers on the palate for a long time and doesn't irritate the tongue or palate. It doesn't have the artificial fruity flavors I've experienced with Ligerba, and it's pleasantly warming without any alcoholic splashes. There's no characteristic punch or esters, and it's nitro and comfortable to drink. Finish: Compared to a typical sweetened rum, the 43% ABV is spicy but not overpowering. The sherry and nutty flavors linger on the finish.

Part of a tasting with good company. I was more into the 2005 version, however this one is still proper rum. In the nose it gave away some spice and oak to me, and in the notes I found vanilla, chocolate and oak

Vzhledem k ostatní produkci této značky je to dobré. Sud po sherry tomu všemu dává nádech do vůné i do chuti. Vůně předesílá sladký rum, který samozřejmě sladký je i v chuti, s projevem nakouřeného dřeva. Pro mě osobňe je to sladké moc ale pro začínající rumaře, nebo jako dezert super.

For me, the Botucal Diplomatico 2007 is an absolute highlight among the vintage rums. With its intense aromas of ripe fruit, chocolate and a hint of caramel, it offers an incredibly round and rich taste experience. The fine balance between sweetness and spice makes it particularly pleasant and complex. I was so impressed that I immediately bought a few bottles - a rum that you simply have to have on your shelf. A great representative of Venezuelan rum art that I can only recommend to every rum lover.

Clearly a good step up from DER and whilst sweet it wasn’t over the top like DER. Nevertheless it wasn’t particularly inspiring. On the nose there was some leather, nutty, honey and vanilla notes which was promising but on the palate it was just sweet / caramel with a touch of smokiness. Good but unremarkable.

Not an entry level rum, nice dried fruits and spices on the nose, well balanced in mouth.

Really nice Spanish, in the sweeter end of Rum styles. Fruity and nice, but a little short and to little for me at this time in my Rum journey

A good entry-level rum that should appeal to pretty much everyone. It doesn't offend anywhere and is certainly a good choice for friends of sweet, harmonious (sugared) rums.
