How does this rum taste?
- Complex flavor profile
- Well-integrated wood notes
- Distinctive agricole style
The Hors d’âge Agricole Rum, distilled at the Isautier distillery in Réunion and bottled by Velier, presents a complex profile. Distilled from sugarcane juice in 2005 and aged for 16 years, this limited-edition rum (502 bottles) boasts a high ABV of 65%. Tasting notes reveal a prominent woody aroma accompanied by vanilla, sugarcane, and subtle spices. The palate combines the robustness of burnt sugar and woodiness with the freshness of sugarcane and roasted undertones. While users appreciate its complexity and distinctive agricole style, some note the strength of the alcohol could be better integrated. This rum exemplifies the character-rich, refined nature of aged agricoles.

"Great Agricole! Nice spice, lots of wood influence and nice peach black tea and dark cocoa and burnt hay, as well as pear notes. Alcohol is a bit too present overall and could be better integrated after 15y, yet this is a very exciting & complex drop and extremely fun!"

"#4010 Another expensive release and this one is not as well balanced as the Agricole release. The wood and ABV could have been integrated better though its not completely put of balance it still throws it off a bit. Fruity with a lot of wood and roasted notes. Looking at the price tage and having to chose I'd go with the Agricole version if I had to buy one."

"Delicious Agricole hits the spot . Fruity and sweet on the nose. Beautiful floral notes that arrive ripe and balanced in the nose. On the palate, the alcohol is not quite perfectly integrated, but for me it's still just about right. It comes across a little bitter on the palate with less fruit than on the nose ... more chocolate and wood come to the fore here. Not ultra complex but good to drink."

"Wonderfully balanced profile of wood, spices, nougat sweetness and subtle fruit. Very successful!"
