“Unbelievable just how unrecognizable this nose from the 70’s is to any other contemporary SJ I’ve tried. Like acetone-laced vanilla caramel popcorn. Fascinating. Carries over to the palate but what seems acetone on nose develops into papaya, lime, and tropical fruit on palate. I was not expecting this but it’s an amazing expression. So much pop and sizzle in it despite relatively low ABV. One of the most interesting tastings in some time. Incredible how much the flavor profile of a distillery can so radically transform over the decades.”
