How does this rum taste?
The Greenheart MPM Rum offers a complex blend of roasted, fruity, and spicy notes, appealing with its cask strength yet smooth profile and nuanced flavors.
Greenheart MPM, distilled in 1989 at Guyana’s Uitvlugt distillery, is a 31-year-old rum with a 47.3% ABV. Bottled by Distilia, this limited edition features 218 cask strength releases. Users appreciate its complex nose of raisins, roasted and tropical fruits, with distinguishable mango and marzipan notes. On the palate, chocolate, spices, and barrel-aged nuances emerge, alongside dried fruit and baking spices. Many find its smoothness appealing despite lower ABV, praising its balanced profile of wood and fruit, although some say its intensity can overshadow subtler flavors. Suitable as a digestif, it has been likened to an Armagnac in its fruity and herbal complexity.

"Hard to get your hands on but I was lucky to get a free sample. A very nice and well balanced rum. Woody and fruity with some caramel, chocolate and there is a hint of a medicinal note." - 9.0/10

"Most fruits on the nose out of the ’89ers I tasted. Works very well alongside some herbs. Very nice one. Less fruits on the palate leaning towards darker notes. Had the most intense palate today. For now my favorite of the vintage." - 9.0/10

"É´ose Sweet mangoes, raisins and marcipan. What?! It actually feels like an old Baraillon Armagnac at the first encounter. The most uncommon PM 89 Nose we've had till date. And the most fruity one. Banana bread, milk chocolade and apricots. Tons of apricots. Splendid! There is also a slight floral side, that strokes your senses with Ylang Ylang and jasmine blossoms. Plus some hints of fine wood oil. Let's feast, shall we? Palate Smooth and gentle, rounded and sweet. No this ain't no lullaby, but a 31 years old rum with 47,3%. The alcohol is almost invisible. We find the sweetness of the apricots and a pleasant bitterness of grapemark. Oh, and there is honey too. But rather an exotic one, than the one's we know from our climes. this rum would be an ideal digestif after a heavy meal." - 8.9/10

"Beautiful fruity nose, also a certain marzipan sweetness. Allspice, toasted barrel and a great mango note on the palate. The rather low ABV is not at all disturbing here. Significantly better than the younger MPM Marques." - 8.8/10
