How does this rum taste?
RumX members love this cask-strength Haitian Clairin for its sugarcane core wrapped in floral notes, vanilla and woody spice. Velier’s 2017 Chelo distillate aged 4 years opens after a short rest. Peppery warmth and light anise fade into a long green-tea finish. With 88 reviews and strong buyer confidence, this limited 1,200-bottle release is a trusted pick.

VSGBNose: not a classic Clarin, the oloroso cask has mellowed it considerably. Fruity it is, apple and honeydew melon with a little vinegar. In addition something vegatibles, maybe artichoke, green with something, like chamomile. Palate: hui, seems very sweet, sherry sweet, so quite full-bodied. Cherry, plum and dried, sulfured apricot. On the palate, the sherry fizz - as so often, or almost always - clearly drowns out the actual rum. If you like that, it is quite tasty, but for me always too monotonous and interchangeable. So also here.
Very nice delicious Clairin! I really enjoy this series of aged clairins! I would always prefer these aged to the unaged ones! Here you can taste all the lovely clairin notes, fruits and also woody roasted notes which comes from the barrel!
Even better than the 1st version. Nice ester and glue notes. Great, complex flavor that is right in the middle between good Agricole and Hampden.
This is a very good Clairin and it will probably devides the waters because it's a bit different from the other releases. I like it a lot actually. The nose is light yet fresh with grass, floral, glue and vanilla as well as some dried fruit. This rum needs to rest before it surrenders all the flavours. The palate is sweet, warm and dry with dried fruit, spices, wood, grass and lovely floral notes. The finish is fresh and medium long with wood, vanilla, dried fruit and lovely floral notes. Should have bought a few bottles when I had the opportunity.
