The Golden Barrel HLCF from Hampden distillery in Jamaica is a 16-year-aged rum, distilled in 1998 from molasses using a pot still. Chosen for its unique flavor profile by Alambic, this rum offers pronounced notes of pineapple and other tropical fruits. Despite its limited release of only 380 bottles and a 45% ABV, users note it tends towards a thinner mouthfeel with subtler flavors, including vanilla. While some appreciate the typical Hampden ester character, others find it lacks the expected depth due to dilution. 18.01.2020 A nice little summer house meet up in ght cold part of the year. Good we had rums to keep us warm. Notes Light in colour. Nose Light, ester, light wood, fruity, pineapple, light banana, cherry, light floral. Palate Light, ester, light wood, faint smoke, fruity, banana, light pineapple. Light herbal, faint floral. Finish Medium long, light wood, fruity, cherry, light herbs, faint chocolate.
This is (unfortunately ) a rather diluted hamden, but it still retains a typically hampden profile both on the nose and palate. It's just all unnecessarily thin and delicate. I really wonder what the base tastes like.
