This was yet another sample I took to the party and it also did pretty well. I'd say that price matches the quality pretty well. This rum needs to rest for at while or the ABV will bite you both on the nose and palate. The nose is fresh and has light smoked wood, apple and anise to it.if you don't rest it the ABV will bite. The palate is well balanced between smoky wood and fruits with spices and medicinal notes trailing. Again the ABV will bite if you don't rest it. The finish is long, fresh and round with light wood and fruit to it.

Nose is much more dominated by salt and alcohol vs the two other young-ish KFM I have for comparission (TBRC 2002 and The Duchess 2003). Alcohol is not integrated very well, while it isn’t overly complex after all.

On the nose still very pleasantly fresh and much dried fruit...on the palate after initially with wood and barrel impact, first prevails the alcohol! This is not very well integrated and for me he dominates too much! Once it has dissipated...appear delicate subtle notes of spices and fruits...the finish is so medium length, dry and slightly woody bitter

The highlight of the rum is the beautiful, very harmonious salty Guyana nose with continental fruit basket of ripe stone fruit (apples and pears), in the mouth it tips a bit into the woody bitterness, the fruit becomes even riper (baked apple and dried apricot). Unfortunately, the alcohol is quite sharp - even when you factor in the ABV. A surprising herbaceous freshness comes around the corner again in the finish.

Alcohol is really well integrated. But overall, the young KFM is not my favorite mark. Too many young yellow fruits with salt notes. With missing the typical deep, dark Guyana notes....
