How does this rum taste?
RumX members love this high-ester Hampden for its wild Jamaica funk and overripe tropical fruit. Expect pineapple and banana over a creamy, buttery core, with marzipan, citrus, and a very long, fruity-vanilla finish. At 66.5% cask strength it’s intense yet, for many, well balanced, and praised for its value. With 45 community reviews and a rising following, this limited 125-bottle release is a confident pick for neat sipping.

tasted together with the Flensburg JMC HD 2007 / 12 years. It's really hard to tell the difference. On the palate, the 14 year old is perhaps a bit rounder (especially on the finish) but these are minimal nuances. In any case, both hit exactly what for me is the quintessence of high Ester Hampdens, the fat buttery fermented notes 😋.
What a great bottling. From the beginning to the end. Nose: All the classic hampden notes, with a high impact of ester 🤤🤤🤤 Mouth: Here i found some really lovely notes of marmelade. Really delicious. The finish is quite long fruity and dry🤤🤤 The alcohol could be integrated better
I consider myself very lucky to have tried this very special release as only 125 bottles were made. A very funky Jamaican eminating from the glass especially after resting for 15 minutes. Funky on the nose yet fresh and fruity at the same time. The palate is well balanced and funky with a touch of barrel and marzipan. The finish is very as in very long with tropical fruits, vanilla and a hint of barrel.
