How does this rum taste?
- Rich bourbon-like character
- Well-integrated alcohol
- Distinct woody and fruity flavors
Spirit of Art no. 2," from Trinidad's Ten Cane distillery and crafted by Valinch & Mallet, offers a unique profile. Distilled in 2008 from sugar cane juice with a pot still, its 13-year aging process enriches its robust 56.3% ABV. With limited availability of only 307 bottles, this rum features pronounced woody and rubber notes, complemented by tropical fruit, banana, and caramel aromas. Users appreciate its bourbon-like character with well-integrated alcohol, yet some find it lacking complexity and smoother integration. Ideal for those fond of matured rum with a distinct bourbon influence, but perhaps less appealing to fans of bold ester-rich expressions. This rare bottling provides an elegant experience for discerning palates.

To Ten Cane
"A very nice ten cane, better than the one from CDI I'd say. Fruity from nose to finish with spices and a delfining roasted barrel without it being too much. A touch of rubber and solvents are also there. "
"A rum that gives an impression of unfinished business. The nose is somewhat timid, and despite some pleasant menthol and rubbery notes, the fruit and spice are rather subdued. The nose lacks depth and strength. The same applies to the palate. Apart from a few additional phenolic notes (alcohol and solvents in particular), the palate struggles to reveal itself and convince. The few spicy and empyreumatic touches don't raise the bar. Length on the palate is short-lived, sketchy and simplistic. A few hints of prunes, tannins and spicy notes lift the finish, without transcending the palate. A rum that needs some aeration, but remains disappointing overall."
"I didn’t take any notes at the Rhum Fest so a more detailed review will follow as soon as I get the chance to sample this rum again in a better context."
"I don't know that much Ten Cane so far, but he's not really exciting."
