How does this rum taste?
The "Maestro" rum from Ron Aldea distillery in Canary Islands offers a unique taste of its origin, distilled from sugar cane juice using a column still and aged for 10 years. This rum exudes a vanilla, fruity, and caramel aroma with hints of raisin and barrel. On the palate, users detected a peppery and fruity flavor, coupled with woody, sweet, and vanilla notes. While some appreciated its balance and sweet profile, others found it a bit simplistic and mild. A blend of freshness and sweetness dominates, but it lacks in complexity and depth, making it a suitable choice for beginners or those seeking a gentle rum experience.

I’m not impressed. I’ve expected more of a rum based on sugar cane juice distilled in a pot still. The flavors shows up late and especially during the quite short finish. It’s rather sweet, probably some added sugar, with some spiciness and some floral notes.
Bottle Market Bremen Oktober 2024. Zum Abschluss ein Ron Aldea von den Kanaren. Kein wirklich guter Rum.
