How does this rum taste?
- Whiskey-like character
- Good for mixing
- Distinctive smoky notes
The "Cuban Smoky" is a unique addition to the Havana Club lineup, distilled from molasses using a column still in Cuba. Infused with smoky nuances from Islay whisky casks, this rum offers a distinctive aroma of wood and leather, accompanied by flavors reminiscent of whiskey, oak, and dried fruit. Best appreciated for its smoky profile, it also shows hints of sweetness and caramel. While it's a versatile mixer, combining well with cola or ginger beer, it can be sipped neat for its mild, peated finish. Users appreciate its lightness and easy drinkability, while some wish for a bolder taste.

"Went to the local guy yesterday just bacause he's just around the corner, almost. This is definitely a mixer and the Islay cask is very clear with its smoky/peated notes. Pure it didn't really kick off and I'm not an "on the rocks" kind of guy. Where it performed well was in a Rum'n'cola and mixed with a bit of ginger beer and a lime."
"Yes, it's more drinkable neat than its brothers "Especial" and "Reserva", precisely because of the smoky note, which suits the rum well (you can save yourself the accompanying cigar 😎). A pleasant, mild rum, but for me it's still too tired and lackluster."
"Little to no smoky notes from the extra ageing in islay whisky casks"
"delicious....unknown taste but very pleasant....."
