How does this rum taste?
HSE Extra Vieux Small Cask Rum, distilled at Distillerie du Simon in Martinique, is a limited edition spirit with a pronounced woody aroma complemented by dried fruit, vanilla, and subtle plum undertones. Aged for over six years, it offers a complex flavor profile with cinnamon and an oily texture. Users appreciate its expertly crafted blend of woodiness, dried fruits, and vibrant spices, though some find it lacking in standout characteristics compared to other Agricole rums. This medium-bodied rum boasts a pleasant finish that prolongs its woody essence. The refined balance of its aromas and flavors renders it a valuable choice for connoisseurs.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 260,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.

Dry and quite woody Agricole with beautiful Christmas notes (including cinnamon)
The nose is clearly focused on candied fruits such as prunes, but also a little vanilla and sweet spices that come a little later. The palate is dry and mellows after a few seconds, with spices and wood coming to the fore. The finish is moderately long but very pleasant, with the woodiness lingering in the mouth. A rum I recommend for its very good value for money, hse offers us a fine experience both on the nose and on the palate. Leave to rest in the glass for a while for the best experience. Once the glass is empty, it gives off a sublime aroma for a long time to come.
A fairly young rum, but well marked by the cask. The profile is very spicy. The fruit on the nose is not present on the palate, which is a pity, as it lacks a little of the gourmandise. The texture is pleasant.
Tasted at the 11th GRF: More exciting than, for example, the XO and quite drinkable. For me, however, is also missing here a unique selling proposition or something character that sets it apart from the mass of Agricoles!
