How does this rum taste?
- Very complex rum
- Well balanced and complex
- Pastry-like and classic Foursquare
Foursquare Empery stands out to RumX tasters for its blend of coconut, vanilla, dark chocolate, and dried fruits, with many picking up "tobacco lingers on your teeth" (maxlasvegas) and an earthy, spicy finish. The sherry and port cask influence adds sweetness and depth: "ex-sherry dodá sladkost nad běznou úroveň" (Filip Šikula). The oak is ever-present, sometimes a bit dominant, with wood and roasted notes mixing nicely. Integration of alcohol is generally good—"alkohol top" (chu guevara)—but a few find it less harmonious. Overall, it’s described as approachable, layered, and a worthy addition for fans of classic Barbados rum with a pastry twist.

To Foursquare
"very tasty foursquare, nice coffee & cocoa note! This is definitely daily easy sipping material. Extremely round and drinkable. The port barrel harmonizes very well with the rum without making it sweeter, but brings in nice notes of figs, citrus, tobacco and tannins. Very horny number."
"Lovely smell and taste of Oak. One sip and your mouth fills up with the taste of oak. Awesome experience 😍 A very good and balanced rum with a great finish! Nose: Intense, Sherry, dried fruits, coconut, prunes, fruity, raisin, caramelized, woody, spicy, oak, vanilla, roasted nuts Mouth: complex, balanced, dry, full bodied, delicious, cognac, tobacco, sweet, caramel, dried fruits, dried dates, raisin, oak, woody, vanilla, dark chocolate, roasted nuts Finish: Medium, dry, tannins, tobacco, dried fruits, prunes, caramelized, oak(barrel), vanilla, roated nuts, dark chocolate, smoky"
"Despite the alcohol, the nose is sweet. Pastries and leather, varnished wood and overripe banana. A slight sourness spoils the party. The finish is average, rather varnish-like. The empty glass gives voice to the tropical fruit. A disappointing rum, with parasitic aromas we could have done without. To be retested with more oxidation. Re-tested with oxidation and all is much better, the fruit is ample and the sulphur has vanished. Three more well-deserved points."
"Im kurzen Vergleichstest der Foursquare Equipoise und der Foursquare Empery. Wie es nicht anders zu erwarten war, sind beide auf dem üblich hohen Niveau. Insgesamt gesehen, brechen aber beide auch nicht nach oben aus. Mittlerweile, obwohl ich Foursquare sehr schätze, wäre mein Fazit, kennste einen, kennste alle."
