Swell de Spirits Hampden Anniversary Cuvée #2 <>H 2014

Definitely a rum that needs its time in the glass to breathe, otherwise the esters can be overwhelming. After 30 minutes, a wonderful combination of tropical fruits, esters, nail polish, and cookie dough, which lasts deep into the finish.

What the hell is that color? Like liquid gold stretched with gunpowder. So the color is really very interesting! The taste is also interesting. Typical Jamaica with some dirty influences.

A cuvée that leaves me perplexed: it starts with the color. The rum has a blackish tinge (my photo is not good). Strongly alcoholic on the nose, some tropical fruits and esters. All of this continues in the taste. However, there is also a distinct off-note reminiscent of gasoline, diesel, or heating oil (and not in a positive sense). For me, this is an absolute failure of a product.

Yes, you can really recognize the nose from miles away. There are lots and lots of esters and glue here, as well as plenty of tropical fruits such as pineapple and banana. Just waiting for the Caroni to arrive :)

Unfortunately, it's not particularly complex for me. Very ester-heavy and tropical fruits, that's it. Unfortunately, it also has a very sour taste and finish. Fortunately, this goes away with a little water. I don't need a bottle of it.

Ein recht merkwürdige Abfüllung…zunächst die Farbe…als wenn gemahlene ausgebrannte Reste des Fasses mit beigefügt wurden. Die Nase und der Gaumen ist meines Erachtens recht klassisch extrem nah an den anderen Hapmdrn‘s 2014er <>H. Leider nehme ich auch minimale Schwefelaromen wahr. Im Abgang gesellen sich zarte Kirscharomen dazu

Ein weiterer 2014er Hampden. Da hab es ja in den letzten zwei Jahren eine Menge. Im Grunde genommen eine solide Abfüllung, die aber meines Erachtens nicht mit den Konkurrenten im oberen Bereich mit spielen kann.

erstmal nachschauen, was es auf sich hat mit dem Teil: ein 2014er <>H, 12 Monate im 2003er TDL cask gefinished. Richtig dunkle Farbe, aber an der Nase zunächst nur die HD high esters. Auch mit mehr Standzeit kann ich das TDL finish nicht wirklich ausmachen. Ähnlich am Gaumen, es dominiert ebenfalls der HD. Fazit: ein 2014er <>H mit dunkler Farbe. Die Bezeichnung ‚Cuvée‘ trifft es für mich nicht wirklich. Der HD ist aber ganz ordentlich.

🎨 Quelle couleur! Entre le vert olive très foncé, l'ocre jaune et des oxydes de fer. 👃 impossible de se tromper, ça sent le Hampden à des kilomètres! Esters vifs, intense, premier nez porté sur la colle, vernis et dissolvants, caoutchouc brûlé. Arômes gourmands de pâte à gâteaux secs et de caramel au beurre. Avec l'aération, beaucoup de fruits tropicaux très mûrs (ananas, mangue, banane). Le fût de TDL 2003 apporte des notes chimiques de bubblegum aux fruits rouges et aux baies. On termine sur une combinaison exaltante d'olives noires, tapenades, térébenthine, aiguilles de pin grillées, réglisse salée. 😋 Beaucoup de sensations trigéminales; brûlantes, acérées, piquantes, acides, estérisées. Fruits tropicaux, ananas et bananes surmûris, notes d'agrumes (pamplemousse amer). Colle et solvants domptent les saveurs. Boisé épicé, puis beaucoup de saveurs salées, bacon, olives noires. ⛳ Interminable, chaude, aiguisée. Esters acides, ananas rôti aux piments, chêne fumé, notes métalliques, amères, salées et saumurées. Légère sensation de pâte à biscuit, levure. 💡 Un excellent nez, très Hampden avec cette petite typicité du finish en plus.

Incredibly inviting fruity sweet nose, with smooth estery notes. It looks a little charred in color. A little sharp-edged on the palate at first, but this quickly subsides. The finish is very pleasantly fruity with a little acidity that lingers relatively long on the tongue. A beautiful thing.

👃🏼 = Fresh salad of ripe tropical fruits, especially mango and pineapple, all bathed in solvent with fresh herbs. 👄 = The alcohol is present throughout in a slightly oily body where exotic fruits rub shoulders with tea and a hint of caramel. What's more, the finish prolongs this explosive esterized cocktail. Although it has strangely turned greenish, this very expressive rum is ripe to delight us 👏

Le beau calendrier Swell nous réservait cette surprise ! Cuvée anniversaire 2 sans aucun doute à l’aveugle un Hampden, typique, avec quelques notes de fruits rouges amenés par le fut de TDL, des notes légèrement fumées aussi, et un petit côté herbacé. Simple et efficace !

Solider 2014er Hampden. Vom TDL Fass nehme ich bis auf die Grüne Farbe nichts wahr. Also Hampden Fan gefällt mir die Abfüllung gut, aber für einen Cuvée nehme ich zu wenig vom TDL Fass wahr. Spannend, dass das Fass hier so wenig Einfluss hat, aber ich denke bei diesen high Ester Rums funktioniert das einfach nicht.

Ein 2014er Hampden von Swell de Spirits. Wie immer hohe Qualität, aber aus der Erinnerung heraus eine eher „schwächere“ Abfüllung aus dem Jahrgang. Viel Ester, tropische Früchte, leichte Rauchigkeit.

Moc příjemný Hampden
