"Nez ; c'est frais, sur la résine de pin, le thym, la chlorophyle. Un côté empyreumatique se dégage sur de la colle à maquette, un peu de caoutchouc brûlé, des huiles essentielles. Cela devient joliment fruité, de l'orange confite à des senteurs plus tropicales, j'y trouve de la mangue, papaye, kumquat et carambole. C'est parsemé de coco râpée légèrement grillée accompagné d'un beau caramel cuit sur la crême aux oeufs. C'est gourmand et évolutif. L'alcool est presque imperceptible. Bouche ; du caramel doux, des fruits secs confits, un boisé légèrement bousiné, puis d'un seul coup, une explosion d'arômes fruités. Beaucoup de litchis et de pamplemousses roses. Vraiment beaucoup. C'est agréable. Le baume du tigre caractéristique des TDL fait son apparition et reste longtemps en fin de bouche. Camphre, menthol et eucalyptus. Cela devient légèrement astringent sans que cela soit dérangeant. Finale ; longue, avec cette fraicheur qui reste au fond des parois de la bouche. Un excellent TDL, plus mesuré qu'un 2001, mais aussi moins clivant, avec une belle palette aromatique qui change de direction au cours de la dégustation. L'oxydation doit le magnifier."

"Tasted together with RA T.D.L 2002 The rum club shimmers a shade darker in the glass. In direct comparison, the nose of the RA is more defined. The mint in particular is more clearly recognizable. With the Rumclub, everything is a little masked. It seems to want to make up for this on the palate: a real herbal explosion sets in after 1-2 seconds! At this point, the RA becomes more "dirty" and the Rumclub stays more with the herbs and floral notes and is clearly sweeter and fruitier. This continues in the finish: the RA dabbles more in the dirt while the Rumclub remains very straightforward with the mint, sweetness and fruit. Very good rum, for me one point behind the RA, which seems more versatile and complex. I have to say that the bottle of RA has been open for a while, so the comparison is a little off."

"The proximity between TDL and Caroni was already reported in detail by Steffen's book. Aromatically, I also find HTR-typical notes here and therefore consider a blend of TDL and Caroni likely. I like very well, given the framework data (aging, flavor profile) quite a highlight for me. In direct comparison to other Caronis of the upper category of course somewhat behind."
