"Over the years that I have been passionate about this distillate I have always dreamed of tasting this legendary rum!And today I too can be part of those people who have had the privilege of doing so!I don't know if perfection exists but this rum definitely is!Really intense in flavors and smells! You can perceive everything sharply! The finish is endless!Chapeu!"

"Very noble profile, although extremely bitter. Cocoa, coffee, leather, barrel - multilayered dark notes paired with some dried fruit and subtle sweetness. A rum for which you have to take your time, but which is worth it."

"Very round, sweet melange of spices and fresh wood. For me, a bit too straightforward and pleasing in profile to strike out even higher in the rating. But that is criticism at the highest level, since the top league from Guyana simply has even more complexity, finesse and aromatics to offer. Nevertheless, a high-class representative of the current Demerara squad."

"Simply excellent. Brings the Demerara-typical, unique in this form oak vanilla note in perfection in glass. In addition, chocolate melt, hints of latte, fine spices, caramel, a touch of dried fruit and allspice ... I am impressed time and again by the aromatic force that this bottling conjures up in the glass. That a completely tropically stored Guyana in the Skeldon Marque with such a high-class profile remains available for so long at the issue price is in view of the current demand m.E. not rationally explainable - but shall be fine with me. An absolute price-performance tip, even at prices well beyond the 200€."

S.B.S Selected and bottled for Warehouse #1 SWR...
Top review from Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰
"I don't know where the host got this bottle and I don't care actually because this is a very nice Skeldon. Roasted wood with light fruit and spices as well as light coffee and chocolate. I like it, I like it a lot. The oily texture on the palate transfers into the most wonderful curtains in the glass that stay for a long time. The empty glass is amazing after an hour."

"This was also a retaste and the points remain as initially scored. Draws wonderful curtains in the glass. Sniffing the sample glass today reveals a nice wooden nose 😊 A very well balanced and subtle profile in my mind. Could drink this all day long actually. Price to quality was very good at release."

S.B.S Selected and bottled for The Nectar SWR...
Top review from Johannes
"Alcohol is not optimally integrated. Nevertheless, good Skeldon."

"In line with a lot of other older continental Guyanese bottlings this SWR need a tremendous time to breath in order to open up. This will help to reduce the bitterness on the finish and enhance the rum‘s complexity. For me it is on the edge of feeling to thin overall, however still very tasty and complex given enough time. Side-by-side the SBS bottling is clearly ahead of The Nectar. Side-by-side with some 2001 SWRs, the 1997 come out much more elegant and a little more moderated. Wood influence is more accentuated, on the edge of being overwhelming."

"This is a very rare bottle and the price went up pretty quickly after the initial release. That said it's a really good Skeldon. The darkness is there combined with fruit and wood. The balance between the individual flavours is really good and the wood is not dominating."

"Like the dark and heavy profile. Very much on the edge of being too woody, though. SBS has clearly the upper hand side-by-side. Side-by-side with some 2001 SWRs, the 1997 come out much more elegant and a little more moderated. Wood influence is more accentuated, on the edge of being overwhelming."

"I like this one. Despite the ABV the rum comes off warm and not alcoholic once rested. Really nice balance between fruit, wood and spices and I like the chocolate on the finish. The empty glass reveals even clearer flavours."
