Rhum Saint James
Top review from Jakob:
"Nice complexity, also with the necessary power thanks to the slightly higher alcohol content. Overall, very balanced, nuanced with both somewhat fresh fruit notes, heavy sweetness of nougat and cocoa, among others, as well as pointed wood and spice notes. Well balanced and for me one of the best St. James representatives."

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"Retasting with the RumX guys. -------- This was my favourite of the evening. A lot of lovely oak and oak spices from nose to finish. Dry and kind of sweet at the same time. Wonderful balance between the heavy oak notes, fruits and spices. The sprinkle of chocolate and tobacco makes it a very smooth Agricole."
Les EphémÚres - N°1
Top review from Oliver:
"Very horny nose - really great Agricole essence! On the palate, despite its long, tropical aging, still drinkable and not too woody. Quite dry. Great mouthfeel. Absolutely recommended for all lovers of Agricole at cask strength. And that too at an unbeatable (issue) price."
Les EphémÚres - N°7
Top review from Jakob:
"Clearly rounder and more pleasing than the 2001 release of the Les Ephémeres series. More vanilla sweetness, toffee and discreet nougat; in addition, light citrus notes, the spice and wood notes are less concise compared to the 2001 release. A great complement to the first release; the Les Ephémeres series skillfully plays with the different flavor aspects Saint James has to offer. Coherent selection, a very pleasing rum that is fun without being boring."

Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"I got a sample from each release yesterday and had to give them a go right away. The price tag on these is pretty high compared to the regular releases! The nose is well balanced and fruity with leather, flowers, ginger roasted coffee and light oak. The palate is complex, well balanced and warm with oak, nutmeg, citrus, coffee as well as light tea and nutty flavours. The finish is long with oak, vanilla, apricot, coffee and licorice. The price doesn't match the quality in my mind, but this is probably going to be a collectors item."
Les ĂphĂ©mĂšres - N°6
Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" đ€:
"Hmm, heretical question: could it possibly be that this rhum is generally overrated in the euphoric exuberance in the face of a four-piece set perfectly prepared for collectors? đ€ Too much advance praise? I certainly had to drink it in first. đł After the typical notes of whitewashed wall dominate the nose, the rhum on the palate lacks almost everything that fascinated me about the first release in the series. Only towards the end, on the finish, is there a certain spicy power that compensates somewhat for the seemingly arbitrary impression on the palate. Nevertheless, no comparison with the divine No. 1, rather with the already weakening No. 7 (even if a direct crosstasting is still pending). I wouldn't have thought so. Bad form on the day? Update 2023-04-14: No, it's not due to poor form on the day. đ€·ââïž Tasted today directly against the already legendary Les EphemĂ©res No. 1. The No. 6 can make up a little ground (80 instead of 78 points), but can't hold a candle to the No. 1, remains somehow one-dimensional. Update 2024-02-11: Tasted again in parallel with the Saint James/Excellence Rhum (RX18129) from the same distillation year. Result as expected: Les Ephemeres No. 6 is in no way a match for the Excellence Rhum. Strangely enough, it has an unpleasant smell of inferior glue on the nose today, at least initially, and an inappropriate sharpness on the palate; the agricole seems unround overall - all in direct comparison to RX18129, mind you. Tasted individually, it would certainly score better. It remains at 80 points."
Brut de fût
Top review from zabo:
"For me personally, this is a little too woody and barrel-heavy. After a few tastings of various Saint James, I would rank this one in the lower midfield. Unfortunately, this profile doesn't really appeal to me at the moment."
Les ĂphĂ©mĂšres - N°5
Top review from Galli33:
"Amazing Rum!! I really enjoyed the glue/cognac note which comes from the french oak barrel, I guess. Also the fruity tastes of apple, pear and strawberriesđ€€ The barrel and ABV is integrated very well. Conclusion of my tasting: 2006<<<2005<2001 (Roberto style đ)"
Velier 70th Anniversary
Top review from MarcT:
"Last one of my little St. James flight, I like this one the most. It is rare I find an aged Agricole still being fruity, herbal and woody. This has it all. However, it is quite intense, and most definitely needs time to appreciate - do not sip it lazily by the side."
Brut de FĂ»t (Excellence Rhumâs 10th Anniversary)
Top review from Galli33:
"Great Rum, well balanced, complex, great integration of the barrel and ABV. It has the classic St. James profile with all the beloved notes and tastes. I love the fresh, minty, chamomile notes at the very end of the finish. Conclusion of my tasting: 2006<<<2005<2001 (Roberto style đđđŒââïž)"

"I love Bally and have a lot of them on my shelves. This particular one is just up there with the best. A very floral release compared to the other releases from Bally. We'll rounded and fruity with spices and chocolate as well as a hint of coffee. Price to quality at release was really good đ"
Brut de colonne - Bio
Top review from Fasen :
"This rum is a real juice straight out of the cane which the sugar of it would have candied. Very vegetable notes (Green / Hay / Earthy / Sap / Olive / Grass), of citrus fruits (Lemon / Lime) which brings a beautiful freshness (Smooth), it is mineral, slightly spicy (Pepper / Cinnamon / Vanilla (at the end of mouth)), we also find a beautiful sweetness (Honey / Cooked sugar) In short we just have the impression to crunch in a cane gorged of sugar and sun it is very good and pleasant to drink!"

"Compared to the second release this one lack a bit. It is of course a younger model, but it can still keep up I think. Lightly woody with fruits from nose to finish. Lovely spices appear on the palate and finish nicely balanced with chocolate and caramel/toffee. There is a flowery hint i there and a medicinal hint i can't put my finger on. Price to quality is very good."

"Franconian Tasting Gang on 10.05.2024 First of all, a big thank you to DomM for providing this set. Personally, I didn't like the profile. With one exception, this soap flavor is too much for me. But thanks to DomM and Serge, the leftovers from the glasses ended up in a spontaneous and outstanding cocktail."

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Overall a very nice Agricole with great flavors from Saint James, but when I tasted it together with the 12yo, appreciated the 12yo more. Itâs full of flavors from the barrel, vanilla and fruits, but I think it tastes a little little bit too much oak to run out the 12yo."
CĆur de chauffe
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"This Saint James at ABV 60% made from cane juice is not distilled in an column still as most of their produced rum, instead itâs double distilled in copper pot stills. So because of that itâs an Agricole without being an AOC rum. It makes a good Ti Punch."

"Slightly better than the standard 15 year release. Better balance but I'd like a higher ABV đ Waiting for the rest if the samples to arrive so I can score them as well (7 samples were broken when they arrived, postal services in Denmark is not always good) ."

Top review from Jakob:
"Subtle fruit on the nose, which comes across as less fresh than in other vintages. In addition, green herbs, tobacco, spices and medicinal-herbal notes. After some time in the glass, I think I detect a slight floral-spicy perfume note here as well. The nose shows a nice complexity and definitely makes you want more. On the palate, the herbs and floral notes become a bit more apparent, along with citrus freshness, light toastiness, and wood and spice. The bottom line is an appealing spectrum of flavors, which unfortunately remains too unbalanced for my taste. After tasting again, however, I round up slightly for the great nose and the basic aromatic complexity."

"This is one of those that you will either like or hate because of the heavy profile. I'd say it's pretty close to the Corman Collins release just with even more smoky wood and tannins. Dry with dried fruit and spices in the back. But the smoky wood and tannins take the front seat on this one. A super dry finish!"
Fleur de Canne Blanc
Top review from lukasdrinkinghabits:
"A fresh Blanc without pronounced earthy or musty elements. Not overly complex, but clean and harmonious with well integrated alcohol. With mouth a bit sharper with some white pepper, otherwise a similar profile. A chlorophyllic bitterness is more evident here than on the nose. Was my first white Agricole and remains a good reference for me. In the Ti Punch, the lemony flavors come through the strongest."
VSOP
Top review from Timo Groeger:
"Hier ein 43%iger VSOP von Saint James. In der Nase ĂŒberwiegend holzig, junges Holz, Eiche und Fass. Am Gaumen dann ebenfalls ĂŒberwiegend Holz zu schmecken, auĂerdem ein leicht rauchige Note und Vanille ist auch erkennbar. Ganz okay."
XO Rhum Vieux Agricole
Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"You get a lot for your money here and I do recommend people to give it a try. I do know its not the top range but still a very good blend. Leave to rest for a while to get the full experience. The nose is fresh and intense with wood, vanilla and plum as well as light cocoa and roasted notes. The palate is well balanced with fruit, wood, vanilla, cocoa, tobacco and light nuts. The finish is medium to long with dried fruit, wood and chocolate. Leave the glass for a few hours and nose it again for even stronger flavours."

Top review from Jakob:

Top review from Jakob:
"In the nose pleasing, but somewhat unimpressive in comparison: More fresh fruit, nice wood sweetness, again slightly floral notes. On the palate, nice wood, smokiness, subtle nougat and caramel sweetness and dried fruit. Solid, although in my opinion on the border of too intense smokiness."

"Franconian Tasting Gang am 10.05.2024 Zuerst ein groĂes Dankeschön an DomM, der dieses Set zur VerfĂŒgung gestellt hat. Mich persönlich hat es nicht abgeholt das Profil. Bis auf eine Ausnahme ist mir dieser Seifengeschmack too much. Die Reste aus den GlĂ€sern sind aber dann dank DomM und Serge in einem spontanen und ĂŒberragenden Cocktail gelandet."

Top review from Jakob:
"Here, too, the DNA is recognizable in the nose, wood, herbs, roasted aromas - in addition, a floral-perfumed note comes to the fore, which fades slightly into soapy. On the palate, light citrus fruits, wood, roasted aromas, herbs and hay; however, a disturbing medicinal-waxy off-note comes to the fore that irritates me. Unfortunately, this off-note also remains present in the finish, which is why I cannot give it a better rating."
Impérial Blanc
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Overall a solid low ABV Agricole Blanc thatâs really smooth. The nose is fresh, fruity, round and spicy. At the palate itâs smooth, fruity, vegetal and sweet with flavors of peppers, melon, grass and sugarcane. The finish is medium long."
