"Wow, what a nose - almost like perfume. Sweet oranges, floral and elegant. Complex and extremely creamy on the palate. The surprisingly subtle wood influence perfectly underlines the intense fruitiness of the 50-year-old rum. A sweet finish to fall in love with. Excellent!"

"RumX-Kalender 17: WOW: was für ein klasse Rum… eine ungewöhnliche zarte florale-fruchtige Nase, der Gaumen ist komplex, fruchtig, mit Vanille , röstig, karamellisiert und Kaffee! Der Abgang ist mittellang und cremig… Absolut Top Re-Tasting bei Dr. Django: Dieser Courcelles ist wirklich grandios und von den Aromen her schon etwas Besonderes. Davon hätte ich auch gerne eine Flasche"

"Un très beau nez, cerises au kirsch, boisé, vanillé mais toujours dans l’équilibre. Une attaque en bouche assez douce, mais la bouteille arrive à la fin. Toujours des fruits très équilibrés avec le reste. Une finale moyennent longue mais avec beaucoup d’élégance. Regoûté et encore meilleur que dans mon souvenir. Un tout petit peu en dessous des versions à 54%, mais je chipote. Un rhum magnifique qui fait rêver."

"Despite the age they have mastered a very smooth complex rum. I just had another go at this rum today and I'm really happy to have a bottle and backup bottle of this last of its kind. Fruity, sweet and spice nose and a palate that's both complex and extremely smooth. The palate is different from the nose and surprisingly good. Spices mix with, mint, tropical fruits and woodiness with a hint of marzipan. This is the last bottling before the distiller closed their doors. Distilled in 1972 and bottled in 2019 makes this rum 47 years old and a worthy one to close down on 😊"

"This bottle is primarily a collectors item in my mind. I have another release on the shelf and I emptied a similar bottle and it's a pretty average and decent rum. It is a really old rum by now and I think that it's sad they watered it down because I feel a great rum in there. Light and fruity with some wood and vanille. Easy drinkable for most i think. Price to quality is not that good. But like I said, I think this is more a collectors item."
