Montebello Rare Rhum Vieux
Top review from Jakob:
"Completely different league than all other Montebellos known to me - it should of course also be noted that it is in the comparison field in terms of distillation vintages a difference of more than three decades. What is offered here, however, is simply sensational: In the nose already of breathtaking depth with heavy fruits, fresh cola aroma and floral notes, the bouquet thickens on the palate to an oily texture with chocolaty sweetness, heavy fruitiness, excellent spice and perfectly balanced wood influence. Whatever Carrere (or whoever - the exact origin is still rumored) did differently than today: Play it again, Sam!"
Montebello Cuvée The Bolokos
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Bought some samples of Montebello Blanc from Rhum Attitude. This one is the first CuvĂ©e Bolokos, vintage 2018. The cane is from R 579 is hand harvested and called red or purple cane. It was rested for 12 months and regular stirred to be more aromatic. The name âThe Bolokosâ comes from the Guadeloupean punk band "The Bolokos" and their song "White Rum" which was filmed in the distillery. Itâs a limited edition of just 943 bottles. Overall a great Agricole, but the ABV overpowers the taste a little bit too much."
Montebello No. 22A (Brut de Colonne)
Top review from crazyforgoodbooze:
"Brutally cool overproof Agricole. Intense aromas of honeydew melon and sugar cane juice. Alcohol surprisingly well integrated. Aromatically really incredibly exciting. Very complex and delicious. Makes a gigantic Ti Punch!"
Montebello Basseterre
Top review from Jakob:
"Wonderfully fresh grassy notes meet fruit, nougat sweetness and spice. Thanks to the reduced strength almost to be called easy sipper, but this would not quite do justice to the rum, because the distillate remains aromatically alive and knows to show diverse new nuances. A very successful rum."
Montebello LA RENCONTRE (Distillerie du Gorvello)
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Overall a great, round and smooth Agricole thatâs very exciting because of the odd casks it has been finished in. This cuvĂ©e is the second La Rencontre that so far have reached Europe. Waiting excited for the four forthcoming. This one has after aged for about seven years been finished for 125 days in Pommeau de Bretagne casks from the Gorvello distillery. Pommeau is a blend of Calvados and apple cider at ABV 17%. It was distilled in August 2015 and bottled in just 1650 bottles in September 2022 as a cask strength at 49,1% blended from four barrels."
Montebello CuvĂ©e The Bolokos (Ădition Mister Fridge)
Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"#4212 This one is very similar to the others once rested to reveal all the flavours. Intense and fresh vith light fruits and some licorice in the back. The empty glass has some vanilla and mint as well as very faint chocolate. The hype has caught up with it and it's now pretty expensive compared to the other releases."
Montebello Rum No. 22C
Top review from Frank:
"Nach der No 22B nun die lĂ€nger gereifte, aber leider herabgestze (FasstĂ€rke? Also schon reduziert ins FassâŠ?) 22C.
Top review from Galli33:
"Wow the 81% are integrated very well. Blind i would say approx. 60%. Itâs like a solid agricole with some crazy notes of artichokes. I see this more as a mixing rum than drink it straight. Very nice as a sample đ€"
Montebello LA RENCONTRE (Distillerie des Menhirs)
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Overall a great and well balanced Agricole. The Carrere distillery in Guadeloupe has started a release of a collection of Agricoleâs thatâs finished in different casks. Right now I have seen six different releases, but just two have reached Europe so far. This one is distilled in 2015, aged for almost 7 years before finished during 188 days in barrels from the Menhirs distillery previously contained Breton whiskey and thereafter bottled in just 2240 numbered bottles. Iâm looking forward to taste the following releases in the La Rencontre series."
Montebello Cuvée Prestige
Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"This one was a surprise. A complex rum yet a rum that's subtle and easy and smooth on the palate. The nose is very fruity with cane and candied fruits and a hint of licorice. The palate is very well balanced as well as complex, yet smooth. Fruity with spices, nuts and leather and a hint of tobacco, yum. The finish is medium to long with spices, raisin and tobacco. Price to quality is pretty good."
Montebello LA RENCONTRE (Puligny-Montrachet)
Top review from Vincent D:
"Toujours sympathique de tester ces mariages tentés par Montebello tant certains sont réussis. Ici, le vieillissement dans d'anciennes barriques de vin de Bourgogne est sensible au nez comme en bouche. Cela apporte beaucoup de fruit et de douceur. Mais un peu trop de raisin pour mon goût. Un peu trop marqué à mon sens."
Montebello ZENGA BLACK EDITION (Canne Noire)
Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"#4545 13.01.2020 Relaxing at home. A pretty good release. Fresh and fruity with an oily palate that is spicy and medium dry. The finish is medium to long and spicy with some added licorice."
Montebello Zenga 60°
Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"Another retasting and I also stick to my score on this one. This is a very nice white Agricole. On the other hand comparing the price tag to what you get you then have a very good rum. The nose has very fresh Agricole notes with sugarcane and fruit. Int he back there is are light candied notes and some anise. The finish is long, warm and oily with sugarcane and nuts. A very good buy if you like Agricole."
Montebello CuvĂ©e the Bolokos Ădition OcĂ© Cheapfret
Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"#4211 This one needs to rest before revealing a nice intense profile. Very fresh and lightly fruity with natural Agricole notes. The empty glass is nice and has some licorice and minty notes."
Wild Series Rum Guadeloupe Origin No.5
Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"29.09.2023 This is a nice and intense unaged. I tried this one at a whopping 83% where it's even better in my mind. Intense and fruity with floral and earthy notes. The palate is oily and spicy with fruit and grassy notes. The finish is very long and warm with some citrus. Draws nice and thick curtains in the glass. The empty glass is fresh and has some iodine and very light mint."
Montebello Vieux Rhum De La Guadeloupe
Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"25.09.2020 Tasting at a local wine shop that is no more, unfortunately. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose light wood, roasted, sugarcane, light caramel, light fruity. Palate Oily, wood, naturally sweet, light caramel, vanilla, fruity, fried fruit, light herbs. Finish Medium to long, wood, spice, light herbs, light citrus, faint caramel, naturally sweet."
Montebello Guadeloupe No. 1
Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"Spamming with a few older tastings that I haven't added yet. Pretty good release but I would have loved a higher ABV. Overall balance is OK but expected more from a release this old."
Montebello Le brut de fût 8 ans
Top review from Thunderbird:
"Dieser Montebello ist total unausgewogen ⊠Die Nase geht ja noch: relativ sĂŒĂ und fruchtig, aber am Gaumen: pflanzlich, wie junger Agricole, dann. Holzig wĂŒrzig und sĂŒĂ ! Nichts passt wirklich zusammen, er schmeckt eher wie ein Blend aus verschiedenen JahrgĂ€ngen, leider Daumen runter đđ»"
Montebello Brut de fut
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Montebello 10 years Brut de Fût from the Carrere distillery in Guadeloupe distilled in 2010 is first aged 7 years in American bourbon barrels and then for additional 3 years in former Cognac barrels. During the aging they use a special technique by locking in the filled barrels in steel containers to increase the maturation. After the aging is this rum bottled in 2000 numbered bottles at its natural strength in July 2021. Overall a rich and elegant rum with a gourmet profile with a woody and roasted accent."
Montebello Rhum Vieux 10 ans
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Montebello isnât a common Agricole in Sweden, but Iâve read som good reviews and decided to buy me this 10 year old which is mid priced (~65âŹ). Itâs possible to find the 10yo as vintage 1999 and 2002 by moment. I donât know if they differ, but the one I review here is vintage 2002. When I bought it I got a sample of the 12 year old Single Cask from 1999 and maybe that affected me little when I rated this one cause that was great."
Montebello
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Have had this 14yo Montebello from the Carrere distillery for a while and now it was time to test it. The Carrere distillery is quite young. They started up 1930 and from 1966 it has been operated by the Marsolle family. Itâs vintage 2000 bottled 2015 at ABV 50,6%. Thereâs just 1250 bottles blended from four different ex bourbon casks. Itâs extremely elegant and smooth and itâs actually quite hard to understand that the ABV is 50,6%. To feel the elegance of this rum itâs in my opinion important to keep it for a while in your mouth before you swallow."
Montebello Rhum Vieux 6 ans
Top review from Vincent D:
"Nez trÚs fruité avec une pomme verte et un citron vert bien présents. TrÚs végétal également. Les marqueurs du nez disparaissent en bouche avec un profil beaucoup plus boisé, huileux, sur le cuir et une touche minérale trÚs fraiche. C'est plutÎt sympa. Finale boisée et herbacée, un poil trop courte."
Montebello No. 22B
Top review from Kevin Sorensen đ©đ°:
"10.02.2024 tasting event at the Nobilis Warehouse, Haderslev. Retasting and I stick to my initial score. ----------------------- Once rested this is a pretty nice rum. A young rum but still manages to make a good impression."
Montebello 3 Ans
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"This is the only aged Montebello thatâs a blend, all others are vintages. The nose is aromatic and fruity with a certain sweetness and aromas of vanilla. At the palate itâs peppery and grassy with flavors of licorice and sugarcane. The finish is medium long and fruits and licorice dominates."
Montebello ZENGA GOLD EDITION
Top review from Stefan Persson:
"Overall a great Agricole thatâs well balanced and very tasty with an extremely long finish. This rum from the Carrere Distillery in Guadeloupe is distilled in 2021 from yellow and red cane. After 18-Months in ex-rye casks and Tennessee whiskey 1st fillI casks it was bottled in 12000 bottles at ABV 60%. Itâs named after the ZENGA rooster, head of the barnyards in the West Indies."
