"Quite a good rum from mhoba and the best from 2017. Nose: A lot of solvents, mirabelle plum and overripe fruits with a bit honey. Palate: Apple, figs, caramel, maple, solvents and a lot of wood/roasted notes Finish: Quite long, dried fruits, honey and again a lot of wood…"

"Can you make oil from berries? At any rate, this is the taste of Kirsch's Mhoba, finely balanced with a somehow high-quality solvent. Special, different from the typical Mhoba flavor range, but just as good. Update 2024-03-03: Have the rum in the glass again today while bottling for a split and simply have to rate it highly, because the alcohol is basically imperceptible on the nose and is entirely in the service of flavor transport on the palate. How can a rum that has been aged for less than five years be so good! Great art."

"What an esterbomb from Mhoba! A lot of spice, solvents, nail polish (like UHU glue) in the nose(Very SPECIAL)! This is definitely not a beginner rum, also be patient… it has 75%! I‘ll give it some time and also add some drops of water…. maybe it opens up a bit more. Time will give this rum a lot 😎 i don‘t recommend it for cuba libre Nose: Solvents 🤪, fruity esters, funky, fresh, sugarcane, overripe fruits like banana, pineapple Mouth: Spicy, Solvents, astrigend, bitter, strong, funky, vegetal, olive, fruity Finish: short to medium long, dry astringend, bitter, caramel, vanilla, fresh, grass, herbal, young wood Update: I have this bottle now open for some months and it’s getting better and better drinkable/accessible."

"This one is awesome! Cool mix of all the lovely mhoba notes, fresh notes, hay, some esters. The alcohol is intergrated well and has a great impact on it. The finish is quite long and quite woody-astringend. Very harmonious for this young age."

"#4622 23.02.2024 Relaxing at home warming up for the tasting at Whisky Watcher in Odense tomorrow. Nose Faint roasted wood, fruits, polish, light ester, vegetal. Palate Medium dry, light roasted wood, fruity, warm, polish, grass, light rubber. Finish Medium long to long, light wood, spicy, citrus, grass, light flowery. The empty glass has some light chocolate, cherry and sugarcane notes. Price to quality is pretty good in my mind."

"Dégustation rhum et chocolat du Rum Club Switzerland. Un nez de vernis à bois mais sans attendre les fruits, beaucoup de fruits dont là. La bouche aussi accueille des fruits, tropicaux et fruits secs. La finale est longue avec un gel équilibre entre les fruits et le vernis."

Top review from Frank:
"From the very first Mhoba, I have loved this distillery with its very own rum profile. This one matured for the whole 4 years in a South African whisky cask - maybe Bains? Nose: clear Mhoba profile, fermented fruit with honey and yogurt. Overripe banana and papaya and slightly vegetal towards olive. There is also the typical funk, which is noticeable with fruit esters and vinegar. To be honest, I don't notice the whisky cask here. But, as always, good. 8.4 Palate: yes, now the whisky does stand out. The classic Mhoba seems a little more tannic, coarser. But the basis is again fermented fruit and honey with a slightly bitter-salty attack. Ester and banana. It does seem a little dry. Am I deceiving myself or is there a little soap in the finish? 8,0 I actually don't like the whisky cask that much, even though it adds a distinctly different note to the usual Mhoba flavor."

"#4740 07.06.2024 Found a nice secluded spot in this moving dune to enjoy a few samples. Nose Intense, fresh, wood, light smoke, sugarcane, light coconut, faint honey, banana. Palate Intense, wood, light tannins, fruity, light banana, light coconut, roasted. Finish Long and warm, wood, roasted, faint honey, tannins, light fruits, dry."

Top review from cigares :
"A rum tasted at the WLP. Nose of glue/solvents with earth and fruit in the background. The palate is quite lively, with a violent, earthy woodiness, but soon evolves into sweetness, smoke, fat and licorice. The finish is long on licorice and wood, followed by tropical fruit. The empty glass is rich and complex, a very fine rum with great expressiveness."

Top review from Thunderbird:
"Und der Dritte im Bunde der Vibrations und der mit Abstand unharmonischste Rum. Die Nase hat einen säuerlich vergorenen Geruch, gepaart mit Honigsüße. Das ist eher unangenehm. Am Gaumen ist der Alkohol nicht sehr gut eingebunden und die Aromen (Ester, Gewürze,Süße) passen nicht zueinander…ne, dasist nichts"

Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"A unique Mhoba thanks to its ageing in local wood, which gives it exceptional aromas. The nose offers real meaty notes: meat, bacon, smoky and roasted notes make us think of a Sunday barbecue. The woody notes are followed by esters for funkiness, sugar cane for vegetation and banana and dried fruit for fruitiness. An atypical profile that comes across quite well. On the palate, dark, empyreumatic notes take center stage. Esters, spices, dried fruits and salt share the little space on the palate crushed by the improvised barbecue. At the crossroads of funk, barbecue, heaviness and fermentation, this is a highly original profile. The finish, of decent length, leaves a sensation of burnt wood and smoky notes. Floral and sugarcane notes counterbalance the empyreumatic warmth. A rum to enjoy with a barbecue, of course."
