Top review from Galli33:
"Quite a good rum from mhoba and the best from 2017. Nose: A lot of solvents, mirabelle plum and overripe fruits with a bit honey. Palate: Apple, figs, caramel, maple, solvents and a lot of wood/roasted notes Finish: Quite long, dried fruits, honey and again a lot of wood…"
Select Reserve French Cask Rum
Top review from Galli33:
"This one is awesome! Cool mix of all the lovely mhoba notes, fresh notes, hay, some esters. The alcohol is intergrated well and has a great impact on it. The finish is quite long and quite woody-astringend. Very harmonious for this young age."

Top review from Frank:
"From the very first Mhoba, I have loved this distillery with its very own rum profile. This one matured for the whole 4 years in a South African whisky cask - maybe Bains? Nose: clear Mhoba profile, fermented fruit with honey and yogurt. Overripe banana and papaya and slightly vegetal towards olive. There is also the typical funk, which is noticeable with fruit esters and vinegar. To be honest, I don't notice the whisky cask here. But, as always, good. 8.4 Palate: yes, now the whisky does stand out. The classic Mhoba seems a little more tannic, coarser. But the basis is again fermented fruit and honey with a slightly bitter-salty attack. Ester and banana. It does seem a little dry. Am I deceiving myself or is there a little soap in the finish? 8,0 I actually don't like the whisky cask that much, even though it adds a distinctly different note to the usual Mhoba flavor."

"#4650 09.03.2024 relaxing at home with some nice samples from Roberto. Nose Light wood, faint roasted, floral, dried fruit, light honey, sugarcane, light vegetal. Palate Wood, roasted, spicy, ester, fruity, light sugarcane, faint salt. Finish Long, wood, spicy, light roasted, fruity. Beautiful slow moving curtains in the glass. The empty glass has some light grass and faint caramel."

Top review from Galli33:
"What an esterbomb from Mhoba! A lot of spice, solvents, nail polish (like UHU glue) in the nose(Very SPECIAL)! This is definitely not a beginner rum, also be patient… it has 75%! I‘ll give it some time and also add some drops of water…. maybe it opens up a bit more. Time will give this rum a lot 😎 i don‘t recommend it for cuba libre Nose: Solvents 🤪, fruity esters, funky, fresh, sugarcane, overripe fruits like banana, pineapple Mouth: Spicy, Solvents, astrigend, bitter, strong, funky, vegetal, olive, fruity Finish: short to medium long, dry astringend, bitter, caramel, vanilla, fresh, grass, herbal, young wood Update: I have this bottle now open for some months and it’s getting better and better drinkable/accessible."
WR 10 (Kirsch Whisky)
Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓:
"Can you make oil from berries? At any rate, this is the taste of Kirsch's Mhoba, finely balanced with a somehow high-quality solvent. Special, different from the typical Mhoba flavor range, but just as good. Update 2024-03-03: Have the rum in the glass again today while bottling for a split and simply have to rate it highly, because the alcohol is basically imperceptible on the nose and is entirely in the service of flavor transport on the palate. How can a rum that has been aged for less than five years be so good! Great art."

Top review from cigares :
"Un rhum dégusté au Whisky Live à Paris en 2024. Un nez un peu étrange avec des esters, des épices, du vernis et des fruits secs. La bouche est profonde, dominée par l’ananas et toujours des esters et du vernis. La finale est plutôt courte mais les saveurs d’ananas restent très longtemps en bouche."

"#4869 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Fresh, medium intense, light wood, raisin, light caramel, light vegetal, light pineapple, faint earthy, light citrus, light ester. Palate Round, light, fresh, medium intense, light ester, fruity, light citrus, faint pineapple, faint caramel, light wood, faint smoke. Finish Medium long, fresh, light ester, light wood, fruits, light citrus, faint grass, faint leather. Another easy drinkable release that I think most would be able to drink once rested."
Pot Stilled High Ester Rum
Top review from Timo Groeger:
"Mhoba High Ester, ich liebe diese Esterbomben. Natürlich hat man den Ester direkt in der Nase und die tropischen Früchten kommen natürlich auch dazu. Wie gesagt, ist sowas mit Cola echt ein super Sommergetränk. Am Gaumen kann mann dann zusätzlich noch Zuckerrohr schmecken."
Strand 101
Top review from cigares :
"Dégustation rhum et chocolat du Rum Club Switzerland. Un nez à la limite de l’agressivité sur le vernis à bois. En bouche les fruits dominent fort heureusement. La finale elle aussi est plutôt sur les fruits. Un rhum agressif au nez mais la bouche est sexy et les vernis y sont discrets."
Strand 151
Top review from mto75:
Cellar Selection Glass Cask Rum
Top review from Rodolphe:
"Un mhoba qui me réconcilie avec mhoba. Jusqu'alors je n'avais pas été conquis, voire même degouté (le strand 101) par ce que j'avais bu. La j'ai degusté un très bon rhum, dans le style esters mais qui restait agréable. Je poursuivrai ma découverte de la marque."
1802 Cellar Selection 2022
Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"A young rum bottled in partnership with the 1802 bar. The nose reveals the typical notes of Mhoba, the earthy side with mushrooms on the verge of decomposition, vegetal notes, ripe banana, sugar cane typical of the terroir, without forgetting the woody, vanilla and spicy notes that bring balance to these very divisive flavors. On the palate, we find a controlled attack despite the degrees on the meter, with rubbery notes, a medicinal side with esters, a beautiful basket of ripe fruits and woody and spicy notes. The whole is dry but very approachable. The finish is of medium length and reminiscent of tropical fruits, esters, spices and wood, with a hint of leather to complement.A rum that looks good for its relatively low age count. Even if it is rather linear and lacks depth, aging and complexity, it remains an appreciable rum to discover new horizons. The quality / price ratio is nevertheless questionable."

"#4868 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Fresh, medium intense, fruity, light grass, faint caramel, faint leather, faint chocolate, light ester, light citrus. Palate Round, balanced, medium intense, fruity, light banana, medium dry, medium spicy, naturally sweet, light vegetal, faint floral, faint leather. Finish Medium to long, warm, faint wood, faint roasted, light chocolate, medium dry, faint caramel. Not the best of releases, but still drinkable and I think most people can actually enjoy this one."
Select Reserve French Cask Rum
Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓:
"Typical solid Mhoba, but on the palate just too young and impetuous and a little too spicy for me. Does a one-year-old rum, even if it is wonderfully designed and comes from a single cask, really have to cost more than EUR 100 these days? 🙄"
Dead Reckoning Rum Mhoba - South Africa

"#4613 15.02.2024 Relaxing at home with a bice rum. Nose Fruity, light wood, faibt roasted, medium ester, caramel. Palate Oily, light wood and roasted notes, ester, fruits, caramel, naturally sweet. Finish Long, wood, citrus, light caramel, ester."
Indlovu Bourbon & Brandy Casks (LMDW New Vibrations Collection)
Top review from cigares :
"A rum tasted at the WLP. Nose of glue/solvents with earth and fruit in the background. The palate is quite lively, with a violent, earthy woodiness, but soon evolves into sweetness, smoke, fat and licorice. The finish is long on licorice and wood, followed by tropical fruit. The empty glass is rich and complex, a very fine rum with great expressiveness."

"#4740 07.06.2024 Found a nice secluded spot in this moving dune to enjoy a few samples. Nose Intense, fresh, wood, light smoke, sugarcane, light coconut, faint honey, banana. Palate Intense, wood, light tannins, fruity, light banana, light coconut, roasted. Finish Long and warm, wood, roasted, faint honey, tannins, light fruits, dry."
Umbila Bourbon Cask (LMDW New Vibrations Collection)
Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓:
"Gefällt mir von dem Gespann Umganu, Indlovu und Umbila am besten. Wer mit einem schönen, typischen Mhoba-Profil liebäugelt, aber die Ausgabe für drei Rums scheut oder den in Nase und am Gaumen wohlgefälligsten der drei haben möchte, sollte zum Umbila greifen. Die beiden anderen braucht man höchstens für einen Vergleich - und auch dafür reichen Samples vollkommen aus."

"#4651 09.03.2024 relaxing at home with some nice samples from Roberto. Nose Fresh, faint wood, fruits, sweet, ester, vegetal. Palate Spicy, sweet, light wood, faint smoke, fruity, ester, vegetal. Finish Long, spicy, citrus, light ester. Draws nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass has some glue, faint floral and light caramel notes."
Umganu Brandy Cask (LMDW New Vibrations Collection)
Top review from Thunderbird:
"Und der Dritte im Bunde der Vibrations und der mit Abstand unharmonischste Rum. Die Nase hat einen säuerlich vergorenen Geruch, gepaart mit Honigsüße. Das ist eher unangenehm. Am Gaumen ist der Alkohol nicht sehr gut eingebunden und die Aromen (Ester, Gewürze,Süße) passen nicht zueinander…ne, dasist nichts"
Bushfire
Top review from TheRhumhoe:
"A unique Mhoba thanks to its ageing in local wood, which gives it exceptional aromas. The nose offers real meaty notes: meat, bacon, smoky and roasted notes make us think of a Sunday barbecue. The woody notes are followed by esters for funkiness, sugar cane for vegetation and banana and dried fruit for fruitiness. An atypical profile that comes across quite well. On the palate, dark, empyreumatic notes take center stage. Esters, spices, dried fruits and salt share the little space on the palate crushed by the improvised barbecue. At the crossroads of funk, barbecue, heaviness and fermentation, this is a highly original profile. The finish, of decent length, leaves a sensation of burnt wood and smoky notes. Floral and sugarcane notes counterbalance the empyreumatic warmth. A rum to enjoy with a barbecue, of course."

Top review from Beancheese:
"This was interesting and I’m glad I had a chance to try this. On the nose this was quite intense and was definitely dominated by the sharp alcohol and nail polish notes with the fruit poking out. On the palate it was still intense but delivered a little more on the fruit. Not bad and would try more from them but also not rushing out to buy a bottle at the current prices for sipping. May do better as a mixer although I’m not one to spend what this would cost to integrate into cocktails."
