"The rum has only had one rating so far, a long time ago, 86 points. The rum doesn't seem to be very well known. For a New Grove, 86 points is comparatively high, which made me curious. After tasting it, I can say: yes, the rum can really be considered a success - after breathing for a while - even though it doesn't quite reach 86 points in my opinion. The alcohol is relatively present, but recedes into the background the longer it lingers. This molasses rum is dominated by a taste of red fruits, which is entirely in keeping with its color. It reminds me a little of the profile of Savanna, a rum from the neighboring island of Réunion. I find it unusual, but commendable, that not only the bottle number, as with many single casks, but also other information (Limousin Oak!) is handwritten on the label. Update 2023-05-23: Must clearly upgrade this rum today, because today it tastes incredibly intense of mint and menthol, almost like a good TDL 2003. Superb! Update 2023-05-25: Had to pour the rum again because of the very different previous two tasting results. And am now convinced: A TDL from Mauritius! 😳😋😋😋😋 I'm still amazed that I didn't recognize the high quality of the rum straight away. And even more so that no one else seems to have had it on their radar."

"This is a nice rum even considering the price tag. The moscatel cask is there, but in a very discreet kind of way. The nose is spicy and fruity with floral notes and light wood and herbal notes. The palate is also spicy and fruity with light floral, wood and vanilla. The finish is long and balanced between wood, plum and vanilla. I love that they kept it at a good ABV instead of watering it down."

"Bisher erst eine Bewertung. Wir waren sehr gespannt auf diese offenbar seltene Abfüllung und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Na gut, an der Nase wirklich sehr verhalten, aber am Gaumen! 😋 Eine Aromenreise um den ganzen Erdball, toll. Untypischer, aber sehr guter New Grove. Update 2024-04-18: Ein wirklich vollkommen aus der Art geschlagener Rum. Und das meine ich ganz positiv. Blind mäandert man wirklich ziellos herum und kann ihn dann doch nicht einordnen. Von einer Zuordnung zu New Grove ganz zu schweigen. Ein Rum wie ein Geheimnis."

"This release has a kind of lightness to it but the chestnut cask definitely has made an impact. Overall a nice rum and the price tag is really good compared to what you get."

"This moscatel cask finished Chamarel is pretty good considering the price tag. The nose is fruity and has vanilla and ginger to it. In the background I can get tobacco. The palate is creamy with dried fruits and spices topped with wood from the barrel. The finish is long and well balanced with plum and oak. "
