"Bis jetzt der beste von mir verköstigte New Grove, der Vergleich zum 2009er LMDW steht noch aus. Sehr komplex, rund und intensiv. Lässt man das Glas nach dem austrinken stehen, bleibt ein extrem intensiver Geruch von Bienenwachs zurück. Dieser Rum macht richtig Spaß, leider ist er nur auf Mauritius selbst erhältlich Der Vergleich mit dem 2009er LMDW wurde nachgeholt. Dieser ist ihm dicht auf den Fersen"

"This is a nice rum even considering the price tag. The moscatel cask is there, but in a very discreet kind of way. The nose is spicy and fruity with floral notes and light wood and herbal notes. The palate is also spicy and fruity with light floral, wood and vanilla. The finish is long and balanced between wood, plum and vanilla. I love that they kept it at a good ABV instead of watering it down."

"I love the bottle this one comes in and the price is pretty OK when comparing to the quality. Lightly woody with fruits from nose to finish. Pretty well balanced and the finish is only lightly bitter but nice and warm."

"Der Rum hatte bisher nur eine einzige Bewertung, schon vor längerer Zeit, 86 Punkte. Der Rum scheint nicht sehr bekannt zu sein. Für einen New Grove sind 86 Punkte vergleichsweise viel, das hat mich neugierig gemacht. Nach der Verkostung kann ich sagen: Ja, der Rum ist - nach längerem Atmen - wirklich als gelungen anzusehen, wenngleich er bei mir 86 Punkte nicht ganz erreicht. Der Alkohol ist relativ präsent, tritt aber mit zunehmender Verweildauer in den Hintergrund. Bei diesem Melasse-Rum dominiert - durchaus passend zur Farbe - ein Geschmack nach roten Früchten. Mich erinnert er ein bisschen an das Profil von Savanna, also Rum von der Nachbarinsel Réunion. Ungewöhnlich, aber anerkennenswert, finde ich, dass nicht nur die wie bei vielen Single Casks die Flaschennummer, sondern auch weitere Informationen (Limousin Oak!) handschriftlich auf dem Etikett vermerkt sind. Update 2023-05-23: Muss diesen Rum heute ganz klar aufwerten, denn heute schmeckt er unglaublich intensiv nach Minze und Menthol, fast wie ein guter TDL 2003. Superb! Update 2023-05-25: Musste mir den Rum wegen der sehr unterschiedlichen vorigen zwei Verkostungsresultate noch mal eingießen. Und bin jetzt überzeugt: Ein TDL aus Mauritius! 😳😋😋😋 Ich staune immer noch, dass ich die hohe Qualität des Rums nicht gleich erkannt habe. Und noch mehr, dass niemand anders ihn bisher auf dem Schirm zu haben scheint."

"In der Nase noch recht zurückhaltend. Am Gaumen wie ein Hügel: ein kräftiger, bitterer Antritt, ein fruchtiger würziger Zenit und ein zitronig marzipaniger Abgang. Überraschend vielschichtig. Gefällt sehr gut."

"This is like the 2012 release also in a nice bottle and equally good. The nose is intense and fruity with spices and light herbal, earth and woody notes. If you leave the empty glass you will also get chocolate notes after a while. The palate is fruity with caramel, vanilla and light wood, tobacco and herbal notes. The finish is medium long with wood, caramel, chocolate and raisin. I recommend leaving the empty glass for a few hours and then whif it again. Again, love that they kept a high ABV."

"This moscatel cask finished Chamarel is pretty good considering the price tag. The nose is fruity and has vanilla and ginger to it. In the background I can get tobacco. The palate is creamy with dried fruits and spices topped with wood from the barrel. The finish is long and well balanced with plum and oak. "
