"#4838 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Fresh, round, sugarcane, faint salty, faint olive, spice, faint coconut, faint mint. Palate Warm, round, fruits, light sugarcane, faint citrus, light vegetal, medium spicy, faint orange, Finish Medium long, fresh, warm, fruity, light sugarcane, light spicy, light citrus, light floral. These bottles Mark the end of Nine Leaves in Japan and it's pretty sad because he really knew how to make and mature rum. If you get the chance you should try out the five releases which are pretty similar and still pretty different."

"A Japanese rum as strange as it is singular. At first, the nose is quite pleasant and varied, drawing on the Asian roots of sake and whisky, with rather original spicy notes of sesame and umami, before the roundness of the rum infuses a little roundness into a roasted, woody, dried and nutty profile. Then an odor that's hard to describe (akin to the musk or sulfur some might describe) assails the nostrils with a certain power. An atypical profile, to be sure, and a little unsettling. On the palate, the profile retains much of its eccentricity, with typical Asian alcohol and spiciness (umami, salty, ricey, earthy, spicy), roasted notes of nuts, prominent oak and fairly heavy dried fruits (prunes, dates). The alcohol is a little lively but well integrated overall. The finish is long, still very much imbued with this hybrid style of spices, herbs, nuts and Asian influence. A profile that's out of the ordinary, very special, even a little zany, and clearly not for everyone."

"This is one of the bottles I got today and I ordered it because I was curious. My wife is Japanese and this I have tried good spirits from Japan. This rum, despite its young age, was a big surprise. There is some sake and wine to it especially if rested for 15-20 minutes. Lightly fruity with barrel and nuts. There is a light hint of marzipan and chokolate on the palate. "

"Exciting stuff! Nose reminiscent of a mixture of cognac and foursquare rum. Taste could be for me an absolutely horny cask strength cognac or even Armagnac, barely ticks, very harmonious, strong and tasty! Please more of it Japan!🙌🏼🇯🇵😁🤤 Has at the 2nd tasting something of shochu or sake."

"Un nez assez neutre avec un côté clairement saké et massepain. On ne sent pas les watts. La bouche est étonnement douce avec peu d’arômes et une persistance aromatique autour du saké et un côté pâtissier, légèrement fumé et herbacé. La finale est bien courte. Un rhum à 50%, trop sec et pas assez généreux pour être un rhum qui pourrait me plaire."

"#4731 20.05.2024 Relaxing at home with a few samples. Nose Fresh, fruity, banana, light vegetal, minerals, light sugarcane. The empty glass has more smoke and a touch of cherry."

"I think this rum is one of the most misunderstood ones in the market. I've been travelling in Japan and tried a lot of their spirits and it with that in mind I scored this rum. The nose starts off with whisky and sake, yes, sake. Then the vegetal and grassy notes appear with some oak and caramel. The palate is light yet complex with sake and Agricole notes. Later you have sake and the vegetal notes mixed with smoke and oak. The finish is medium long with sake and vegetal notes to it. The price is high for such a young rum, but nothing from Japan is cheap. "
