"Pure absolutely borderline smoky, spicy, bacony and sow intense. Almost not drinkable pure xD in daiquiri then an absolute bomb. Extremely tasty!!! Grilled overripe pineapple, bacon and lots of sugar ear and grilled lime. An absolute experience! Too bad that there is only on site!"

Top review from Stefan Persson:
"The distillery founded in 1785, still produce their rum as it was done back in that time. The cane is crushed by a waterwheel driven mill. It’s wild fermented. They don’t use any temperature control and the double retort copper pot stills is heated with dried Bagasse. Finally it’s bottled straight from the stills. They use sugar cane juice instead of molasses, but it’s not an Agricole cause they use different methods. Overall it’s a funky rum rich on esters and congeners. It’s probably not for everyone, but I just love everything around it and I think it beats the Jamaican white Overproof’s."

Top review from Jakob:
"For me, the positive surprise from the third Piracy release. The usual profile of long tropically matured molasses rums from ex-bourbon casks comes to the fore here in its purest form. What does that mean? On the one hand, there is nothing new here in terms of aroma. Belize or Foursquare serve a comparable spectrum; nonetheless, an even more tart tonality brings in new echoes here. It is precisely the familiar aromas of caramel, vanilla, oak and spices that are present here in an appealing form. The alcohol is still somewhat dominant at the beginning, but after a little time in the glass it gives way to the other aromas and reveals a good balance of elegant sweetness, oak wood influences and subtle spicy aromas. If this represents the usual quality of Westerhall releases aged in tropical conditions for a long time, I'm excited to see what else awaits us in the future."

Top review from Jakob:
"Angenehmer Trinkrum. Das Finish bietet eine stimmige Ergänzung des eher klassischen Profils. Die lange tropische Lagerung schafft eine tolle Basis mit satten Vanille- und Karamellnoten, etwas Milchschokolade und dezenter, eher dumpfer Würzigkeit. Dazu kommen - wohl dank der Zweitreifung - schwere rote Früchte. Kein Komplexitätsmonster, aber sehr angenehm zu trinken und für den damaligen Preis ein ausgesprochenes Preis-Leistungs-Highlight."

Top review from Zucker und Zeste:
"Am Anfang recht flache Nase, die sich dann aber etwas entwickelt. Zitrone, Mirabellen, leichte Würze und Menthol. Im Geschmack dann zum Glück intensiver mit den gleichen Aromen, aber einer intensiveren Mirabellennote und einer leichten Säure. Störend fand ich vorallem den spürbaren Alkohol in der Nase."

"This is from the latest release and I was very surprised about the fresh fruity nose and palate. Very balanced and only lightly dry. Just leaving it to rest will release very nice flavours from the glass. Price to quality is very good."

"Second tasting: My initial rating of 73 points surprised me when I tasted it again, because I actually found the aromas of candied gum, fruit, sugar water and some herbs quite successful. Afterwards, however, I quickly realized what bothered me: the "artificial strawberry yoghurt" finish."

"I’m a bit disappointed… I expected a bit more “garage feeling” notes 😎😬 It remind me on a Clairin, but a more balanced and enjoyable one. Nose: fermented, vinegar, vegetal, olive, grass, hokkaido pumpink 😎, sugarcane, hones and a cool raspberry note Palate: olives in a salt lake, grass, raspberry, sour, charred Finish: medium long fruity and vegetal"

"Bought a bottle of this rum to a really good price from Catawiki. This is my first, but hopefully not my last, Renegade Pre Cask Single Farm Origin rum. Renegade bottles its Pre-Cask rums farm by farm and terroir by terroir. The Defermline is released as two different distillations, column an pot still. It would have been very interesting to taste them side by side. The cane used is Lacolme Red grown at the Mango Land on the Anderson’s field which was a part of an distillery closed down after the hurricane Ivan 2004. The finish is quite long and goes on as in mouth and palate. Overall a very good and distinct rum with some similarities with Rhum Blanc from Guadeloupe."
