Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓:
"Not the oldest rum I have tried so far, but nearly. I tasted this rum together with RX18823 (WDC Cuba 1992). And I must say that on the nose there isn’t much difference, both are relatively weak (smooth) there, no alcohol noticeable at all. On the palate the difference is bigger: The 1963 is much woodier, which is no surprise, taking the age into regard. But also remarkably stronger in the sense of mouth filling, which is surprising, because it contains less alcohol (48,5%). While in the 1992 I can taste malt, the 1963 comes out with licorice and leather - it really reminds me of a very old Demerara rum! :flushed::yum: Conclusion: In the mouth they develop a slightly different taste and strength, but both are great rums imo - 88 points each. ¡Salud! :tumbler_glass::tumbler_glass: P. D.: Again I’m quite sure that both are from the Santiago distillery."

Top review from Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓:
"The raisin aroma in the nose can also be found on the palate, but only in the middle section. Before that, I briefly taste something like the addition of vanillin from baking (thanks, Dirk, for the classification). After the really concise, pleasant taste of sweet raisins and dried apricot, I really like the wonderful cocoa and coffee finish, which can be felt for a long time in the empty glass. No alcohol perceptible on the nose at any time, great! Very dark color, but not - as one might expect - an oily, heavy texture, but rather light. My conclusion: A drinkable, round, elegant rum from start to finish, with no break between nose and palate, which is certainly a great match for a cigar. Due to the 1992 vintage in combination with the country of origin, this rum has an absolutely unique selling point. Is that what you call a unicorn? Whether it really is significantly better than the TWJ 1978 (from the same distillery in Santiago de Cuba, as I assume after tasting it) remains to be seen in a direct comparison. But I'm already sure that the guys from the Wu Dram Clan are to be congratulated once again on their excellent choice of cask. Recommendation! Update 2024-04-10: Finally direct tasting today against the Cuban 1978 from TWJ (RX17933) and the difference could hardly be greater. I see my earlier separate assessments confirmed: They may both come from the same distillery, but where I taste incisively fine cocoa in the 92, in the 78 it's just penetrating tasting damp, charred wood - like a campfire that was put out yesterday and got rain overnight. The 78 has simply been in the barrel too long."

"This is yet another release from the Tributo series and again a wonderful rum. I love the box it comes in. Complex and very well balanced with a bit of dried fruit and spices topped off with oak and tobacco. Very well done and it may be a bit expensive but it is also limited to 2500 bottles worldwide. "

Top review from Jakob:
"The expectations are already very high after the review on whiskyfun.com - and thus already on the road in somewhat unfair dimensions. No, we are not on the level of the Demerara king class, as the age, the pipe tobacco notes and also the deep mahogany in the glass let hope (at least these thoughts slumbered in me). But we nevertheless have the distinct pleasure of an expressive and very appealing rum, whose imposing age does not introduce any distracting bitter notes, but contributes to the aromatic density. On the palate, the sweetness reminiscent of Paxarette increasingly gains the upper hand over the probably manageably complex distillate in its origin, which on the one hand means that we are not advancing to the absolute Olympus here, but on the other hand we are still on an extremely high level. Summa summarum: A very appealing release that offers a lot of fun."

<3 88 Pkt. Vielen Dank an Mto75 für die Samples!"

"Interesting profile that definitely shows its age, but without being overpowering. Chocolate and dried fruit aromas add some sweetness, but remain in the background due to the barrel aromas, milk coffee, leathery meat notes and fresh fruit aromas. Well-balanced and easy to drink, delicious, just a little too little pointed in the individual aromas, which is somewhat at the expense of complexity."

"Wurde da ein Fass vertauscht? Blind wäre ich wegen der dominierenden Minznote klar bei TDL. Einen Kubaner würde ich quasi ausschließen. Ich hatte bisher eigentlich nur langweilige Kubaner. Dieser passt überhaupt nichts ins Raster… Gunnar meinte allerdings, dass wohl alle 98er interessanter sind. Also muss ich mir mal den 98er Jahrgang genauer ansehen!"

Top review from RumTaTa:
"A Cuban at cask strength is not so common. Nose fruity and also somehow meaty, a little vanilla, a little wood but not intense. Alcoholically spicy on the palate. Fruits and spices take a back seat to the wood and roasted notes. Pleasant mild finish with spice, barrel, roasted aromas and a little dried fruit. Good Cuban rum."

"Had a retaste and this time I had the right cigar to go with it and wow what a difference, this is truly a mix well worth a try even though the cigar is slightly expensive and hard to get. Just decided to crack open this wonderful bottle and I regret not having a Cohiba Piramides to go with it. I know it was made to match the Cohiba Siglo VI, but that is too heavy a cigar for me :-) A cooperation between master blender Asbel Morales and cigar sommelier Fernando Fernández and they made something out of this world. A wonderful deep and elegant masterpiece that has a long, warm and elegant balanced finish. A rum worthy of the price tag and then some!"

Top review from crazyforgoodbooze:
"for over 1000€ 0.5 liters of rum and then not even a proper age statement is a cheek. the thing is just a prestige object nothing more, the only thing that costs money here is the valuable bottle design. taste but not much better than pampero anniversario, millonario XO etc... for the money you could easily buy 15 single casks... pity! very pity!"

Top review from Leo Tomczak:
"The packaging is definitely worth the price. It's not much good as a rum, but I didn't have high expectations. The rum is not intended for advanced connoisseurs, but probably more for pirate collectors and exclusive hotel bars overseas. The rum itself is Spanish and unremarkable. Somewhat very woody, noticeably sweetened. Quite nice overall. Never worth the price in life, of course."

Top review from Thunderbird:
"I find the nose very restrained, with delicate aromas of wood and honey. It is soft and light on the palate. The dilution is a little too strong for my taste. Notes of wood, coffee and spice dominate. It lacks complexity... I find it too one-dimensional."

Top review from DomM:
"The finish works quite well here but also dominates the profile. Intensity is pretty good given the low ABV, however, the finish adds a lot of sweetness. While the sherry is dominating, adding red fruits and a smooth mouthfeels, the profile is not overly complex."

"I have many of the really good releases from Havana and compared to them this one lacks some complexity. Not that it's a bad rum, the profile is nice and fruity with nice spices and caramel, but I would have loved some more punch."

"This weekend was very busy because I've been building a new shelf system for my 250+ bottles so my Saturday and Sunday tastings haven't been added :-) I love Cuban rum because it goes well with Cuban cigars. This one has a long velvety finish. "

Top review from LukaŽiga:
"8,5:On the nose , we discover a certain finesse as well as a mastery of the aromas of the roasting, despite a power that we already guess is rather substantial. The coffee and cocoa are perfectly black, but are finely ground and surrounded by splashes of fresh peaches or plums. Aeration develops a singular complexity, always nuanced, with relative delicacy. Behind the roasted aromas lies the fiber of a soft white wood, swollen with vanilla and toasted coconut milk. A pleasant harmony reigns, which could evoke a truffle from a great chocolatier. 8,7:On the palate , the power is expressed without delay and reveals the most demanding flavors of this rum. The roasting and a certain metallic aspect then come to the fore, for a good kick in the butt. What this impressive introduction hides is a gluttony and concentration that are just as impressive, with caramelized nuts and red fruits that stick to the palate and never leave. 8,6:The finish is just as sticky, and the sweet spices and molasses, coffee never want to leave us. Another great Ferroni 🙏."
