Top review from Rhum Mirror 🇧🇪:
"Coconut on the nose. There's no doubt where this keel comes from. It's right up there with the Foursquare stereotype! But that's not all... it's woody (14 years of aging, you can tell), with peppery spices and freshly grated nutmeg. There's also something heavier, resinous (glue, varnish). A rather attractive, concentrated nose. On the palate, it's very greedy, spicy but not too spicy. Lots of sweetness with dried fruit, dark chocolate and tobacco. Fruits are also present! The traditional notes of the house are not lacking: vanilla, coconut, licorice, honey... The finish is sustained by chocolate and blood orange! In conclusion, this is a great success."

"Industrial profile on the nose with sparse dried fruits and lemon zest. The wood has been very active and has superimposed char, burnt sugar, cigar box and balsamic influences. Sweet licorice slowly develops into glue stick and light petrol notes. This is what I imagine the inside of an automotive factory smells like. Subsequently there’s salty seawind and menthol ending in some red wine tannins and old hay barn. Unexpectedly quite different on the palate. Sweeter and less oily and much less aggressive. The dried fruits continue, however this time joined by some red apple. The licorice is replaced by more streamlined anise. The wet forest becomes dry oak. Some glue, some brine, some tannins, but much less dominant than on the nose. Sweet on the finish with crisp apple and light petrol notes."

"Nose: fruity, on ripe, sweet mango, the slightly rotten fruit jack characteristic of HD, light solvent. Multiple fruits and spices that you could smell along a hiking trail on an Indian Ocean island. Well-integrated alcohol, you can stay on top of this glass for a long time. Palate: first impression of alcohol integration also validated on the palate. A lovely basket of exotic fruit, jack fruit, mango, passion fruit, star fruit, almost lemony. Slight bitterness from the green olive in its jar, but not as disturbing as on some high esters. Some mild island cooking spices are present on the second nose and palate (Indian curry, sweet pepper). Long, warm and pleasant on the palate, with marmalade-like fruit supported by a light woodiness that adds body to the finish. A hint of brown sugar reduced with water from a pan appears on the finish. A very good representative of Hampden's low ester, to be enjoyed either on its own, or as the first in a Line up HD... Alternatively, try it with other Jamaican low esters from Clarendon, Long Pond or Worthy Park to compare their fruity aspects."
