"Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: Together with cask #5613, the best Caroni ever for me. A little more subtle on the nose, with the full aroma package of the Guyana Stock HTR Caronis on the palate: vanilla, caramel, oak, fresh mint, dried tropical fruits, plus the dirty HTR aromas. You can't get much more than that. Together with cask #5613, this is the ultimate in tasting and, for me, the ultimate of all Caroni Veliers."

"Stands out in the blind tasting of all Velier Diamonds with its comparatively very fruity-sweet nose. On the palate, bitter notes are added and the typical profile of Velier Diamonds becomes recognizable, however, the fruit notes remain very present, reminding me of overripe red berries (strawberries). Excellent drop and meanwhile a privilege to be able to taste it - great cinema."

"Very complex without becoming unbalanced at any point. The wood note is particularly impressive, giving the rum a noble depth that borders on the bitter without overpowering the other notes. Heavy, dense consistency. Very nicely integrated alcohol. The only "fly in the ointment": Tasted blind, it doesn't stand out enough in comparison with other Skeldons for me to agree with the perfect score. However, this does not detract from its outstanding quality."

"Nose The Bouquet is a Versace dress in liquid aggregate. Incredibly oplulent, vibrant and yet of undeniable elegance. Feels almost like a perfume called Eau de Demerara, coming straight from the jungle. The scent of the finest, freshly cut woods such as sandalwood and cedar alternates in continuous play with lovely blossoms of ylang-ylang, poppy blossom, lilac and myrrh. The whole weave is carried by sweet mangoes, sticky glue and a light coconut blossom note, which absolutely corresponds to the Diamond profile. Palate La grande bellezza! Sweet, super concentrated and oily, the first sip fills the palate with dried mangos, fried cassava slices, tamarind paste and milk chocolate with coconut filling. But there is also a note of Masala Chai in there, giving it an oriental twist. The sweetness is striking! At no point does the 61.4% abv seem dominant or sharp. The tropical maturation has done a perfect job here! It's clearly a Diamond Coffey Still Rum, yet it somehow tastes more refined and sophisticated than the other Velier Diamonds. ғɪɴɪsʜ Long like the red carpet of Cannes, flanked by the abovementioned fine woods and a whole bunch of citrus peels."

"An intoxicating nose full of vanilla from the oak, caramel, interwoven spices - the depth of the individual aromas is breathtaking. The palate also offers a fascinating profile - again heavy sweetness full of expression away from any stickiness, dark spices, hints of tobacco and herbs, coffee, pleasant grip of the alcohol...deep, heavy, crisp, herbal, woody with a tart sweetness. "I had the chance to taste it blind, and my money was on an old Demerara. A nose of very, very old tropical Demerara, with lots of wood, but balanced by a fresh, almost minty character. Old tar, used to dampen the boards of sailing boats, and spruce too. The palate follows the nose quite closely, with a slight tartness: old tar and varnished wood. The finish is very long, both powerful and elegant, woody to the point of madness, but balanced thanks to the menthol. There's even a hint of salinity on the finish. A rum that tells a story of sailing ships, fragrant warehouses, old ropes and the sea. Splendid!"

"A rum you can't really dislike. Super pleasing, sweet profile, without ever seeming clumsy, sticky or uninteresting. The other flavors around smoke, spice and nuts are also so harmoniously embedded that there is neither too much bitterness, spicy sharpness nor too hackneyed sweetness. This balance is unfortunately somewhat at the expense of complexity, which is why it is not enough for me to the very highest consecration. Nevertheless, impressive quality and an excellent rum that shows its existing flavor profile in perfection."

"To date, the most impressive testimony to the quality Foursquare is capable of producing. Aging in former Madeira barrels brings a perfect flavor complement to the usual Foursquare profile and puts the Destino in a different league than the bulk of other Foursquare bottlings. Excellent."
