"My first Caroni. It's woody, fruity and sweet. It's hard to believe it's over 62°. The profile changes completely on tasting. Now I understand what makes these rums so special. It's woody and heavy. On retro-olfaction, there are hints of tar in the mouth and the whole thing ends in a strange bitterness. It's disconcerting.2nd tasting, it's even richer. It seems sweeter. I can't find the 62° at all, it just slips away. I finish on an almost salty, metallic note. I kind of understand the interest in Caronis. It makes you want to go for even more typical bottles.Edit: 👍Edit2: oxidation has taken its toll on the power of this sample, but it's still very pleasant and typical of what I now know of Caroni. Very good."

"#4121 First off, price to quality is pretty good in my mind. Intense and fruity with a well balanced ABV. Despite the age the wood isn't dominant but rather well balanced with the other flavours. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass is very nice and I can pick up some chocolate and pineapple."

"This is a tasting set from 2022 where we had a lot of fun around the table. Another really nice release from Valinch & Mallet and the price tag matches what you get. Fruity with a nice smoky note in the profile with good ABV integration. There is a light nutty note on the profile. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass is really nice with some added chocolate and light coffee."

"#4118 This is a really nice balanced release. Once rested it releases a lightly funky nose. Fruity with a spicy touch and a well balanced overall profile in my mind. Draws nice curtains and the empty glass is nice with some grassy and tannin notes."

"#4117 I'd say this one is a bit disappointing because the other releases were pretty good on average. Naturally sweet with fruit and light roasted wood and lightly dry on the palate. Draws nice curtains and the empty glass is nice with stronger chocolate and a very light smoky note."
