"In the nose wonderful wood aromas paired with filigree spiciness and subtle fruit notes. Unfortunately, on the palate, the wood influence takes control, the barrel is very present, behind which fine fruitiness of the nose almost disappears and concise spicy notes and barrel tones take the reins. This definitely still has charm, but still seems to me already somewhat overlaid. For lovers of rather dry, bulky rums a good place to go, me on balance, unfortunately, on the palate aromatically a bit too narrow."

"Very pleasant and approachable nose. The typical Caroni notes are joined by a great caramel marshmallow note. Nice spice and intensity on the palate. But almost a touch too biting. It becomes more elegant with a bit of dilution."

"Still primarily with fresh fruit on the nose, more complex aromas then emerge on the palate. Pastry notes, spices and barrel aromas are added to the tropical fruit potpourri. Nice complexity and balance, even the alcohol strength fits the distillate very well in my eyes - neither too brute nor too thin. Successful!"

"Recht untypische Nase für einen Caroni. Viel Vanille, Bourbon und Nuss kommen zu den (eher dezenteren) Caroni-Noten dazu. Am Gaumen sehr zugänglich. Für eine Top-Bewertung fehlt etwas die Tiefe. Sehr gut integrierter Alkohol."

"On the nose, the lower ABV seems to put the spotlight more on the fruity notes versus herbs. Very nice. This is in line with the last cross tasting, where the V&M also performed very well on the nose on the back of some dilution (presumably, of course ;) ). And same story on the palate… while the dilution seems to benefit the nose very much, on the palate (at least side-by-side) the 95 vintages loses disproportionately. Less thickness and intensity. While more approachable, the dilution does not round out the edges completely but undermines complexity. The right approach (dilution vs. cask strength) is then a matter of personal preference."

"Der Tortuga gefällt mir extrem gut, weil er für mich die typischen Caroninoten aus diesem Jahrgang herauskitzelt und dieses Finish perfekt für diese Rum zu passen scheint. Ich finde ihn komplex und kräftig. Er ist natürlich kein „all Day Sipper“, sondern ein Rum auf den man an dem Tag auch Lust haben muss. Eine absolut geniale Erfahrung! Und Zeit sollte man mitbringen, denn es gibt viel zu entdecken."

"This rum is very dark. The nose is quite smooth, not as strong as with higher ABV rums. Herbal, floral and woody notes, along with wood, dried fruits and prune. There are also coffee and chocolate tones. Palate gives dried fruits, wood, with chocolate, spicy and iodine notes. The alcool is more present. Finish medium to long, with coffee, licorice, and chemical notes. It's a very good rum, a slightly higher ABV wouldn't have been bad though."

"A fairly well-behaved Caroni with a warm nose of machine shop and stewed fruit. The palate is deep and warm. The finish is long. A very fine rum, but suffers a little from direct comparison with the Velier single cask (RX1150)."

"Rather wild and young Clarwndon, typical banana and tropical fruit taste that ends jn a medium/short finish. A bit one dimensional and not very complex, but still very tasty. Can be a good entry to Jamaica rums"

"My favourite long pond I would not describe as a blind degu, however jamaica is undeniable. There's estery fruit in the aroma, and then there's a complementary tongue vibe in the taste that adds a bit of technical joy. Pleasant."
